WIP of a short fanimation I’m doing. I grew up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtles and this incarnation (Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) has by far been my favorite ~ the art style, the character designs, their personalities, the family dynamic, Raph/Leo aren’t at each other’s throats over leadership (man that’s a refreshing difference), the combat animation 😍, the dialogue, etc etc. Like really, mad respect for the writers, storyboarders, animators, voice cast, everybody involved in making it.

I really don’t want to see this show get cancelled (for those who haven’t heard, it’s apparently on a hard pause rn due to low toy sales [???] ) 😞 so I’m showing my support for the show with some fanart/fanimation stuff

4 Things YOU can do to save Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Why are we mad?

Well, in case you somehow didn’t know, Nickelodeon has been actively hurting Rise of the TMNT by ridiculous episode air times (mainly during school hours, late at night, or early in the morning when kids are asleep), barely advertising for the show, creating very little merch, and making it almost impossible to watch anywhere besides directly buying the episodes (WHICH THEY DIDN’T EVEN MAKE THAT EASY). The final straw was cutting short the series of its assumed 3 seasons and promised 2 FULL seasons, giving us a measly season and a half of content, while also forcing the Rottmnt crew to write a four episode season finale (a feat that would normally take around a year to do) in SIX WEEKS!

What we want?

Hey, simple fans, simple needs. We would like to at least see what the rest of season 2 had to offer (there are still storyboards and half-finished episodes and character arcs). Potentially we could convince Netflix to take up the show, like they did with Glitch Techs (another show Nickelodeon gave the boot). Nick already has a pre-standing partnership with Netflix, as they plan on airing the Rottmnt movie on it next year (hopefully).

What can I do to help?

1. Talk about it!

Make as much noise on social media as possible! Support your fellow creators! The fandom has been trying to get Rise trending once a week (mainly on twitter), and @ing @nickelodeon and @netflix in everything. Just show your support for the show while keeping it courteous and respectful. HolyMangos on Twitter is keeping track of what tags we’re using and setting up times to post so go check with her for more info.

2. Directly pester Nickelodeon about it!

Aside from tagging them in fanart, fanvids, redraws, and general discussions about the show, we have also been sending fanmail or complaints via email at [email protected] or sending physical mail at Nickelodeon Animation Studio 231 W Olive Avenue Burbank, CA 91502

3. Ask Netflix about it!

We want Netflix to know how much we want this show to continue, and you can directly request for it here. Just remember NOT to put Rise in all three slots because you run the risk of getting flagged as a bot. INSTEAD, put Rise as your first suggestion, and then one other movie or show for good measure. We want Netflix to know that there’s an audience for this show. Heck, even just searching for Rise on Netflix counts as something, because Netflix keeps track of searches, so HOP TO IT!

4. Rate it on IMDB!

Despite how many people love it, Rise only has a 5.2 out of 10 rating on IMDB (despite almost all the episodes themselves having an 8+), mainly because a bunch of people gave it a single star after ONLY watching the first episode. If you love the show, give it a sincere review and maybe we can get those ratings back up.

There are so many reasons why I love Rise of the tmnt!! But personally, the thing I love most is the family dynamic in it.

We get so much of the heart and soul that we’ve come to expect from the TMNT franchise, and so much more. We got such a unique take on the characters and family dynamics- not to mention siblings who are probably the most relatable and well-written example of what siblings are like!!

I love that they worked to make each character have something to struggle with- I love how they showed Splinter try to be a better father, but also show his difficulties in acting as a parent (I do love Splinter in all incarnations! but often they make him very perfect, so it was nice to see him struggle with parenting, and it felt so rewarding when his relationship became better with his sons!)

I love that they made Mikey have a more easily discernible personality, when most people referred to him as ‘the party guy,’ Rise really cemented his place as the heart of the team. I love that Donnie got to battle his insecurities to be someone more than the ‘tech guy,’ and that Leo got to have a break from being the leader, and to find his own place on the team- and I absolutely loved that Raph got to be the protecter, and openly show his care for his family.

April was an absolute inspiration, and so much fun to watch- especially her relationship with Splinter too!! It was a really great father/daughter relationship for the two of them that I craved to see after 2012′s Splinter and Karai. Casey is another awesome character, and I wish (and am hoping, if all our effort works!) that we got to see more of her, though I do love every moment with her that we already have. <3

The Rise crew went above and beyond to put effort into this show, and it was amazing every step of the way. They took so many risks, and all of them were so enjoyable to see in the story- Thank you so much for making this Rise Crew

When I first found Rise, I had just been let out of the hospital after spending about a month there, and I felt numb to everything. I couldn’t feel anything, I just stayed in my room in an endless haze, until eventually I decided to watch Rise, figuring there wasn’t much else to do... but when I started watching it, I actually felt happy, and the more I watched it, the more emotional I started to get as I got more invested in the characters and stories. This show gave me something to look forward to, it gave me something to enjoy and focus my energy on. It gave me a reason to be happy.

This show really means so much to me, and to so so many people in this fandom, and we are so grateful for all of your hard work in making this- thank you so much Rise Crew, for giving us a place where we could feel at home <3
