Shou says hello
Reigen is actually the one character in the entire world most deserving of plot-armor because it is utterly imperative that at least once-an-arc he struts his no-powers-having commoner ass into the vortex of ungodly danger, in possession of just his fists or maybe a gun, so he can try to talk-down or failing that punch-down the being of infinite power which is currently threatening Reigen's god-power-wielding 14-year-old employee.
And by all logic his god-power-wielding 14-year-old employee is the only one between the two of them with enough power to defeat the threat, but that threat is coming from an adult who is trying to beat up a child and that is lame and Reigen as the adult recognizes this and is not gonna let that shit just fly unchallenged.
After half a year of procrastinating and one months worth of actual work, my mob psycho animation is finally finished
Very very very funny of Dimple, whoâs been hanging around with the expressed and very loudly spoken purpose of planning to use Mob to take over the world, actually forgetting he was supposed to do that because he got too cozy being the pet little evil guy everyone likes.
And itâs not until Mob has the Mandatory Middle School-Assigned Future Prospects worksheet where all the 14 year olds have to fill out what career they think they want to have as adults, which Mob is stressing over, and Mob asks Dimple âhey Dimple what are your future career prospects?â that Dimple THEN goes âoh yeah I was supposed to be taking over the world?â and he literally disappears without a word to go do that.
Like I cannot express enough this is the âwe have to stop Dimple from taking over the worldâ arc and this was the set up for it
HAPPY (LATE) BIRTHDAY TERUKI!!!
So itâs clear that when Mob transferred his powers to Reigen in the Claw 7th Division arc, he did not do it intentionally. It was just the redirection of his massive energy out-pour toward Reigen out of gratitude.
Then in the World Domination arc he does, intentionally, transfer some of his power to Shou to help Shou get back up. And this is a very big deal because Touichiro is like âwhat the hell power transfer is MY thing.â
Where Iâm going with this is the realization that Mob DOES know how to do the power transfer thing intentionally and I am picturing a post-series-finale case where Reigen calls up Mob frantic like âSorry I know youâre not working today but this is a real case and Serizawa is at school and this thing is going to eat me please come help.â
And Mob shows up like âOkay here you goâ and raises his hand but the spirit does not disappear. And Reigen is like âMob please I donât think that did anything.â And Mob is like âI didnât exorcise the spirit Shishou. Iâm off work today. I gave you some of my powers though. Please use them responsibly.â
And Reigen is just standing there staring at his fingers in crisis going wait holy shit, my whole body is buzzing, I can move shit with my mind, oh shit I have powers (temporarily) (Mobâs powers), wait IâM still supposed to exorcise the spirit?
And Mob is like âhave fun Shishou byeâ and Reigen is like âMob wait I want an instruction manualâ and Mob is like âthat would look bad to the clientâ who is currently cowering in the corner.
Anyway I think Mob continues to do this and now Reigen has to deal with the consequences of becoming actually sometimes psychic after so long pretending to be psychic.
Laughed the whole time I was drawing this
Arataka, Shigeo, and the green thing
*Poke* +
Extremely funny to me that among all the esper kids, Reigenâs âDonât use your powers to harm other people. Talk things through, or know when itâs the smart move to run away.â only ever resonated with Mob.
Like all the kids were there for that. Shou of course immediately decided that was weak sauce. Ritsu just kind of doesnât acknowledge it because heâs ready to choose violence at any moment. Teru SEEMS to be deeply swayed by Reigenâs teachings but he will reliably forget this every arc when itâs time to water-board the terrorist du jour.
Mob is absent for the first part of the World Domination arc so instead our A-team is 3 psychic middle schoolers who are choosing violence before the question is even asked, 5 reformed terrorists, 1 evil spirit weâre all just cool with, and Reigen who canât do anything because heâs arguing with insurance
this is kind of basically what happened
Mob appreciation moment. I really really like that, while Mob is not speaking to Reigen during the separation arc, itâs not because Mob is mad.
That would have been the easiest way to write it for sure. Dimple even presents it this way. Reigen absolutely did say some foot-in-mouth terrible things claiming that Mobâs friends are using him and Mob can only rely on Reigen.
And while Mob absolutely took issue with the accusation that his friends are using him, the words that really got to him were Reigen going âyou gotta grow up for crying out loudâ
Mob is someone who thinks deeply about the things people says to him, and heâs someone who wants to put in the genuine effort to live his life.
Mobâs take-away from this wasnât âIâm mad at Reigen.â His take-away was âI tend to just follow what Reigen says because itâs easy and works out. But I think to grow up and live my own life, I need to start making my own decisions and figuring out what I want.â
This arc could so easily have been about a petty squabble or a classic âyour business wonât last a day without me!â style bet. But Mob isnât that type of character.
He got told to grow up and he decided to take it to heart.
Mob gets a hair cut :D
