Sometimes I'll see a fic or fanart that makes Eclipse a bit too... inoffensive. Usually for the sake of a redemption arc. It will downplay his capacity for violence, and ignore his implied past actions with the colony. That always bothers me a bit.

The black aliens are notorious for the destruction they cause. It's part of the reason why Shadow is so determined to kill them. It's part of the reason why the series itself is so matter-of-fact about killing them. Eclipse is part of the black alien species, and has played a part in all of their deeds, from the day he was born up to the day the black comet came to Earth. He is far from harmless.

While Eclipse may not have a body count on Earth, he has definitely killed things on other planets. We know he was on the black comet long enough for them to visit the wisp planet for his science project. I think it's reasonable to assume they stopped to eat at another planet at some point between his creation and arriving at earth. And if not that scenario, he at least killed some leftovers they were keeping, or got experience fighting enemies of the comet. He helped to keep things up and running for the colony, and keeping things up and running for the black aliens involves a lot of death and destruction.

But that's not to say Eclipse is irredeemable. There are still a lot of ways to go about a redemption arc, and you don't need to baby him to make it work. I hope that makes sense.

Sorry for the extra ask, but I noticed mod Os said in her about she had fainting problems and I was wondering if those were from vasovagal since she also mentioned a phobia of blood? (Which I have and also can trigger mine) Also if vasovagal is an autism thing or just separate? Thanks!

Yes, some of those are definitely vasovagal syncope- and my phobia of blood is one cause. I’m also going through the process of getting evaluated for Ehlers Danlos and dysautonomia which also accounts for some of my fainting problems.

As far as I’m aware though, fainting of any kind isn’t an autistic thing. (Although there are definitely comborbidities that are common with autism that can cause it.)
