Oh. OHHHH.
JOSEPH’S WIFE HAD FAITH IN HIM (NAME COINCIDENCE) AND HE WANTED THAT BACK IN HIS LIFE!!!
that’s the freaking--
He was replacing his “faith” not necessarily his wife.
I may be reading way too much into it, but he didn’t hear back from his wife promptly. He called long enough apart to build a crib so let’s assume these voice mails are spread over hours, ((however it baffles me it took that long for the hospital to reach out to the next of kin with this)). But anyway, he comments “Usually you're pretty good about calling back, so, just, give me a call, okay?” which I can only take that coupled with his nervous “ums” and general worry that he was heavily reliant on her... and in her absence who would have faith in him as much as she did... after all this is a man who had great difficulty holding down jobs because iirc he spoke about this voice... the messages implied to me that Joseph Seed was as good a man as he could be at that point in time, because this saint of a woman he married kept the pieces together.
So when his mental health goes unchecked after his wife’s death and he hears and follows the voice, having faith in him became more twisted which gave rise to the new “Faith”.
Faith doesn’t have to be Faith, Faith just have to have faith like Faith.
Faith faith faith faith fai--
