One thing I was always thinking about is why in season 3, Aaravos is egging on Viren to conquer Xadia with him when ruling over Xadia is not actually one of Aaravos' motives.
But then I started to think about the whole picture rather then just his plan and it started to make so much sense. It all comes down to an end goal. While Aaravos has no desire to conquer Xadia, it does heavily disrupt the Cosmic Order.
Think about it, not only is it a huge "screw you" to the Startouch Council and their values and beliefs, it sends a message to the Dragons and the Elves who also bow down to the Order's old ways. Humans, who they considered to be lesser beings now taking over Xadia? Not only is that huge in terms of knocking the Elves and the Dragon's down a peg or two but it causes the old ways to be challenged in their views. Humans aren't lesser beings, they are just as strong as the Dragons and the Elves.
But not only does conquering Xadia help their plan along with the Hearts of Cinder spell, it gives Aaravos a contingency plan. If anything should go wrong with their current course of action, Aaravos has corrupted the Sun Forge and therefore has a backup for a later plan. He always thinks ahead.
So even though humans did not manage to take over Xadia and the first plan failed, Aaravos was still able to use the Sun Forge to disrupt the Cosmic Order in the end. Its actually a breath of fresh air to have a villain who has no interest in wanting power, he just wants to tear down an unjust Order, especially after his daughter's brutal murder.
When Aaravos says "I want them to hurt!", the line delivery is so powerful (Erik Todd Dellums slayed) because you can really see how much pain and anger he has inside him. How much the death of Leola has affected him. And how it has gotten him to this point of fighting tooth and nail to tear down the Order's unjust system.
Your honour, I love him 💖
