Did my first A level psych paper today soooo pre-petrification Gen HCs?

I like the idea of Gen being like an actual published psychologist. Like I firmly belive that he has written psychology papers and had them published in academic journals, whether or not he got a PhD is up for debate but I wouldn't put it past him. He obviously doesn't tell anyone or go around talking about it because it ruins his superficial image but I think he's always liked magic and preforming but got a degree as a backup. (Look this guys had backup plans after backup plans I refuse to believe he just started preforming magic without something to fall back on and if thats being a certified psychologist then so be it)

He wrote a few papers but stopped once around the time he became more popular, mostly about social/cognitive psych (think conformity but also like counseling, therapy ect) and it drives senku insane. Like Senku has read his papers he knows how smart Gen actually is and his insanely talented mentalist keeps playing dumb as if he hasn't written essays on brain scans snd neural pathways.

Gen has no idea Senku knows but he's aware that it frustrates him so he keeps doing it just be annoying.

Can't stop thinking about the way Byakuya says "I'm an astronaut." Its the same way Senku says I'm a scientist, their occupations mean so much to them I'm crying.

Like yes, this is the thing that they've dedicated their lives to, their passion, their role in life, everyone in the Kos whether it's Yuzuriha or Minani, Gen or Ryusui their roles mean so much to them. They wear their titles with such pride and I can't stop thinking about it. It's who they are at their very core dreams they've worked their lives to achieve. It's so inspirational and it makes me just wanna cry.

Let it be known that when Suika was depetrified and working to make the revival fluid she was the only human alive at that point at least when Senku was depetrified the ishigami villages and all the people on treasure island were alive, but when suika woke up it was just her. Noone else.

For 7 whole years she was the only human being alive. And that loneliness whether she realised it or not must've been suffocating. It's rather a good thing she was so occupied with surviving because noone should ever have to live with the knowledge of such a burden especially someone do young

Do you think Senku gets scared that he's going to forget Byakuyas face?

Like it's pretty obvious his memory is freakishly good if not picture perfect but I think the idea that he's slowly forgetting Byakuyas face hurts in the perfect way and its not even that hes forgetting but he thinks hes forgetting because nothing looks quite right anymore. He can picture his voice and remember his fair but he's slowly forgetting what his eyes look like or his smile, he's forgetting his father and its slowly killing him inside.

It's the small things at first like he doesn't quite remember how much his eyes crinkled when he smiled or how his eyebrows moved when he was surprised but then its the colour of his eyes, and did he have that facial hair there? and he couldve sworn Byakuyas smile was bigger than that.

He isn't forgetting but he thinks he is so much so that he can't remember the version of Byakuya that was with him because its been so long. (He thinks he sees part of him in the villagers, sometimes Chrome will smile and its almost the same smile Byakuya had, or Kaseki will laugh and he stops for a second because its so close to being his dad but its not it never will be he long dead dead before he ever got to see senku again dead before senku could say goodbye dead and his last act of love is the village he left behind people who can help him but it not his dad and it will never be)

I like to think it's a slow building thing that blows up after the they get sent that picture of the everyone in corn city. The realisation hits him that he can't remember what Byakuya looks like anymore. It's leaves distraught because all equations he knows all the formulas techniques, experiment he's recreated, none of it is worth anything when he can't even remember what his dad looks like.

keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it

Incredible shocked by the lack of anything about the 5 generals being a polycule like hello??? The dynamics??? I can't believe myself soooo hcs!

Ryusui, Senku and Chrome are chronically planning and pushing to get stuff done, they're always trying to rush ahead to the next thing trying to stay on top of things especially when the moon trip is over and they need to get society back and running. Which is why Ukyo and Gen are there to pull them back, they can keep up with them if needed but they're main goal is to get the three to actually think in the present. A minute to stop and breathe.

They also handle a lot of the diplomatic stuff (i can't remember if it is mentioned what Ukyo does at the end of the manga but i imagine hes one of the main people to help on the revival front) and absolutely refuses to let the other three do the talking, senku and ryusui are both blunt as he'll and they're words can be misinterpreted easily, Chrome could handle himself but I imagine he's picked up on the bluntness along the way.

On that note the four of them love to take Chrome out whenever one of their favouite things from the old world gets brought back, like their favourite drink or a show they enjoyed just small little things that he's never experienced parts of them that they want him to know. Chrome then takes them to do new things too, things they never got the chance to do in the old world (like he finds out Ukyo has never gone bowling and Gens never been to an aquarium).

Ryusui spoils the hell out of all of them constantly buying gifts and stuff but whenever the others spend time with him it's late at night or them doing the most domestic things for him, like fixing his clothes, bringing him lunch or just chatting with him. Things he never got to experience growing up, that warmth of a family. They remember small things and do them wordlessly leaving him speechless and flustered each time.

Senku just likes existing together. It's like the domesticity they do with Ryusui except its with everything. Senku and whoevers available will work on their own things just in the same room. Or they ask what he's up to and get dragged into doing some wild experiment. He revels in the way he makes them speechless and they let him go on tangents and actually keep up. He's similar to Ryusui in which he likes giving them gifts except they're all made by him and its mundane things that just make their lives easier.

Ukyo is the one they all go to talk with. He makes sure to keep up with all of them and ensures they're actually taking time for themselves, he's honest but not blunt so they always go to him for advice or just to talk. Like all of them at some point in the week will just walk and talk with him about literally anything. Not just to chat but also to for physical affection, some of them are well mildly embarrassed about being so vulnerable but will take every opportunity to hug or hold hands with him. He absolutely adores it especially because he knows the level of trust they have in him. He also compliments them a shit ton, like its says it so simply that it takes a second to register.

Gen is like a constant presence. He makes time to visit each and every one of them and keeps up with all of them whenever anyone is away. Like he'll always just know what's going on in their life. He also gives out the most affection, like instead of others comming to him he seeks them out and pulls them into a hug or holds their hand because a) he likes doing it and b) he knows they need it. He genuinely praises them to everyone he meets but teases them to their face. If they're angry or upset he knows how to pull them out of it. And so they all tease him back or shamlessly compliment him because it genuinely leaves him just speechless or incredibly flustered. And whenever one of them wants a distraction they go to him first and let's him do whatever magic trick he can leaving them either deciphering how its done and genuinely invested in it

Thinking about how Sai hates the Nanami Corp so much he did his best to flee them all the way to India (only to be stuck teaching math, which he hates, for the Nanami Corp, which he also hates, but at least he's not an actuary).

But his little blurb post canon says that Ryusui got him to work for Nanami Corp.

As their IT director. So a CIO or a CTO probably.

So, Sai works for Nanami Corp after all. With his brother, who found a role that would actually fit him and his interests and passions instead of just shoving him into what he seemed "best" at.

And!

Because he came to an agreement with Ryusui that he could still have plenty of time to code his beloved games.

Because Ryusui would never take his Gameboy SP and wipe his computer.

Because it's different with his brother. Because it's different with someone who cares about him.
