I think this book suffers too much of decompression. A full year of Booster fighting the 1000 was bad enough, but it took him three issues to fight the director.

His suit also changes all the time. The star had at least three different versions, but it is in the last issue that we finally get the blue star. I kind of like him with short hair more. I always wondered why Maguire was drawing him with such a short hair, now I see that he had this haircut around the time JLI was in production.

The seeds for “Goldstar” are planted in this issue. Just in time to replace Booster’s other sidekick, “Skeets”, who has been hacked by the 1000 and had to betray Booster.

This story also starts crossing with Legends. Even though Legends didn’t have Booster Gold tie-in, there are a few. Many books in the DCU had Legends tie-ins, but perhaps the reason why they weren’t included was because the character didn’t make a difference in that story.

Hello! I see that you like the 500, but have you ever done (drum roll) THE 1000? If so, what is your best time?

I have actually only swam it once, and I got 12:29.06. I remember getting to the 20 lap mark and thinking “now I have to do it again!?!” But it was fun

The Director of The 1000 was a U.S. senator named Henry Ballard who shepherded the organization's new direction and goals. Under the Director, The 100 changed its name to The 1000, where it is attempting to expand their reach to even the Oval Office with Henry Ballard as the presidential candidate. This plan, however, was thwarted and The 1000 became The 100 again upon retreating into the shadows. As The 1000 they fought Booster Gold. They first appeared in Booster Gold #2 (December 19, 1985).
