swim culture is developing a rotator cuff injury three weeks before your first meet of the year, pretending you're fine for four or five practices, finally telling your coach, being reduced to kick for a week, finally thinking you'll be able to swim properly again, only for it to have gotten worse over the last week and now you're going to have to suffer through the random distance events your coach put you, a sprinter who's struggling with a 150 because of said shoulder injury, in.

Seeing the olympic warm up pool is so funny to me because you’d think it’s only the small “insignificant” competitions with as much chaos in the pool (hitting each other, swimming on top of each other, kicking 🦵🏻) but apparently that also happens to the best swimmers in the world
