Explanation of my princesses under the cut
The Chrysalisssss
The first two are the Chrysalis and the Medusa, where the Chrysalis is sort of like the Damsel's version of the Apotheosis/Wild, where she realizes the Big Thing about herself bc the player locks her away and leaves her alone to her thoughts. The Chrysalis has a sense of doom about her existence because she, by nature, wants to be soft and gentle.
And I always found it very reductive that just because the Shifting Mound contains death doesn't mean she is a death goddess. And personally i am not sure if the Long Quiet is a god of life. i think together the two of them create life, but the Narrator only wanted his version of life which isn't really any kind of life, therefore, the Shifting Mound has the rest of that life. Therefore!!!! I wanted to connect the Wild and HEA/Damsel to be that goddess of life and change, that her existence can also be soothing in its own way (though i think TLQ is most if not all of the soothing parts of life).
I like to think that if you bring the Chrysalis she can either be a mournful heart, or a nurturing heart, depending whether or not you perceive her as someone imprisoned to destroying the world, or someone who is capable of picking herself up from the ruins.
I also really wanted butterflies to be her motif bc traditionally butterflies are symbols of change
The Medusaaaaa
Also like. The Medusa is sort of like a soft version of the Nightmare (though the Spectre can also be said to be a softer version of the Nightmare too. I remember when i first played the game i played the two of them back to back and i lowk thought they were the same princess. I was very dumb!!).
Anyways, the Medusa is a moon jelly, and she sort of just stands there, and you are psyching yourself out trying to tell if she's dangerous or not all the while she just smiles and stares. If you talk to her, she acts very sweet and inviting but fully intends to sting you and/or end the world, preferably both at the same time.
She comes across as very elegant, polite, and sweet, but deep down, she's spiteful and would metaphorically end the world just to see you suffer. She will make for a deceptive heart.
If you do manage to free her and she sees the world unwind, she believes she did it herself and shows regret for what she "did," trying to stop it but is unable to. It would also be fun if she initially resists the hands. She will make a regretful heart.
If she isnt freed, well fuck what do you want me to do? Make a chapter three? Well maybe. I'll call it The Fuck You Free Me chapter (joking).
Also looking her in the eye does nothing shes just called the medusa because in Spanish thats what you call a jellyfish
Anyways thats all i have hehe
