It's an awkward moment when there's a movie that's best watched going in completely blind, not even reading a summary. But, at the same time, that movie is filled with triggering things that most normal people would want to know about before deciding whether to watch it or not. So you have to decide whether to to give the content warning, knowing it will mean a less than ideal viewing experience, or just saying basically saying "trigger warning: oof." It's like "dead dove; don't eat" but I can't tell you what's in the bag and you'll either find it delicious or be violently ill.

Irreparable Harm

Parenting is hard. You're responsible for the 24/7 care of a fragile, helpless being who is dependent on you for its every need. And even if you manage to keep them alive, you have to account for their mental wellbeing as well. There's simply no telling what the ripple effect might be of even the smallest decision you might make. What ideas you've planted in their heads. What they've seen, or missed, that could impact everything.

So is it any wonder that so much horror tends to cluster around childhood? The traumas of children are imprinted, becoming foundational to who we become as adults. The pressure of parenthood breeds countless horrors of its own.

But how bad can it really be, right?

Even when you mess up, you'll always have a chance to make things better, right?
