“It’s like every time you cast a die, something disappears.
Some alternate ending, or an entirely different world…”
My new paint project, this time a thought cabinet! The Precarious World called to me the moment I read it. Just over 11 years ago, I became disabled. I broke my back and was looking at a long recovery ahead. I had to decide whether I wanted to go through major back surgeries and learning how to walk again or, well, quitting. I sat down and had a conversation with myself a lot like this Thought Cabinet quote and decided to keep fighting, to see the joy in the world and keep going. I didn't know at the time how hard it would truly be, now with 6 major reconstructive back surgeries, learning to walk all over again 3 times, and lifelong chronic pain under my belt. Even with all this, I have never regretted my choice.
With this quote being so close to my heart, I decided to immortalize it! I included the dice that you can buy from the dicemaker which were such a blast to paint! On the front, I painted the Icosahedral Red Die on the breast pocket and the Icosahedral Dice Set Sirens on the back. I'm very happy with this piece!
