I am once again thinking about Maximum Ride, cause I really really did love that series so much as a kid before the last couple of books
And I always say that the series just dragged out for too long, and I guess technically it wasn’t the length, because some stuff can last awhile and still be good, it’s more like…the way it was written made extending it bad? If that makes any sense? (At least bad for me, again, it’s been awhile since I’ve read it and maybe other people liked how it was extended, so this is more opinion than fact)
Spoilers for the series obviously, so the main characters are kids who were experimented on their whole lives escaping from a lab, and the main villains they were fighting were called the Erasers, who were other experiments from that “Institute” that the lab sent after them
And it eventually turned out that the leader of the Erasers, who was this large guy, was actually the main character’s (Maximum) half brother and he’s only 7, I remember the description being like his skin was stretched over a larger frame (something like that) and other horrifying stuff, and he ends up dying
And it’s just heartbreaking all around, because I think it was the first time they fully realized that the Erasers genuinely were other experiments like them who were just brainwashed more and they’ve been pitted against each other by that horrible Institute when they should all be on the same side
And then the Erasers got replaced by robots. And it’s like okay. Well. Yeah, I guess, you need the story to keep going with antagonists they physically fight, but like. it just wasn’t as impactful or interesting to me anymore
And there’s way more stuff afterwards, but for me, I really feel like that was the beginning of them extending the story too much
