my teeth are bared. i do not know a time when they weren’t. even as a child, despite my innocence, i would bare my teeth to the world. i have hungered for this for so long, yet i fear when it may arrive. i’d like my teeth to grow as sharp as knives. i am angry. i don’t know a time i haven’t been angry. i don’t even know if it’s anger, really, or hunger. why am i so hungry? i do not know what i hunger for. it is something, it is singing, i hear its song sung in the lions and gazelles, in the wolves and deer. i hear it in the blood rushing through my veins when i run. when did i become the predator? i remember so clearly being the prey. it feels like just yesterday when i was running for my life. when did it change? was it after he caught me? i didn’t realize i was even running until then. or was it after i found him again, after i felt his heart in my teeth and bit down hard enough for him to free his grasp on my throat. i remember the fear most. you never stop running, never stop being afraid. i’m still afraid. for at some point, you lose all sense of roles. when you’re running in a circle, it’s impossible to tell who is chasing, and who is being chased. i used to never do the chasing. now i can only try to forget what it was like to be chased.

Can’t decide which I like better colour-wise, so have both.

Yet another prompt from @ze-smol-snek, this time being “The Everchase.”

I took the thought of an SCP-106 narrative, where the creature has its domain and will chase you for days on end, slowly wearing you down before progressively taking chunks out of you, ultimately consuming you.

And then you’ve got Michael from The Magnus Archives, where there’s this endless set of hallways through a door that doesn’t exist.

So this thing, the everchase, you feel as though something is chasing you. You’ve seen the evidence through where you’ve gone; busted walls, large scratches, broken items. You’ve never seen it, but you know it has to be there. You can hear it somewhere behind you. You think you’ve heard others in this place, but you’ve never found them, even if you tried to call out, to follow them. But the creature can get in the way sometimes. Or you hear them scream, in a way that you know the others are dead. But what if the creature wasn’t there? What if it was just the place, entertained by your fear and fleeing, until it grows bored. This is the last place you’ll ever be. Keep running. The creature will catch you, hurt you, until you die. Or maybe, if you keep moving, you will get out of here. Take the chance while you can still run.
