New cover for "The Gap Year" from Dark Horse!

The Gap Year comic Issue 2 has come out a couple days ago and I completely forgot about it, oops.

We finally get to see Spider in this one! They forgot his stripes, though.

He's only on this one page, though, and Neytiri makes it pretty clear he's not part of the family. These two have a looong way to go.

Neytiri takes the kids hunting (which Kiri does not care for), and Lo'ak would prefer using guns...

... which prompts Neytiri to take them all to have a look at Bridgehead.

(The three laws of Eywa are mentioned again!)

Being so close to Bridgehead, some humans spot them and attack, causing the family to flee for their lives.

They make it back home safely but Jake is pretty angry.

Earlier in the comic, Jake also vows never to ride the Toruk again.

(That won't last long, I guess.)

And that Bukowski dude is reaaaally weird. Someone should study that man for science.

I guess the RDA wants to divide and conquer, so allying with the Mangkwan is not as out of the blue as it may have seemed.

Next issue January 7th! And is that Jake riding the direhorse?

It's been a long time since we've seen him on one of those!

Willa awakens early in the morning, much earlier than she’d usually rise. The sun is just beginning to make its way over the horizon. She’s drenched in sweat, red curls limp against her scalp, and she’s having trouble catching her breath.

“Not again,” she groans, shoving her face into her pillow. She screams into it, frustrated with herself and with her mind. It’s a dream she’s had many times over the last few weeks: Martin springs out of wolf form and grabs her up, only to die from dragon breath moments later. There’s nothing she can do, no healing spells to bring him back - he’s just gone.

Knowing it’s stupid, Willa gets out of bed and pads over to the door of her bedroom. She paces there for a moment before making up her mind. She’ll never get back to sleep until she sees him, convinces herself that he’s alright. She creeps out into the hallway of the old castle, morning sounds just starting, and finds his door more by feel than by sight. She pushes it open, trying to be as quiet as she can - until it squeaks out a loud protest.

Some Sully family shenanigans from the newest comic, The Gap Year, issue 1 - The Tipping Point:

First we have the Sully kids gathering medicinal herbs and Lo'ak being, well, Lo'ak, causing Neteyam to rescue his dumb ass once again.

Then we have Jake and Neytiri on their ikrans, throwing rocks at the RDA's aircrafts, trying out Trudy's old plan of taking down the vehicles. Seems to work nicely.

Couple pages later...

... the gunships start firing at them and Neytiri has to save Jake's ass, being an absolute badass while doing so, might I add.

Overall, the art is pretty, the characters are mostly easily recognizable, the only exception being Jake (could not tell him apart from the other Omatikaya sometimes). And also, wtf even is this face???

I guess he's supposed to be yelling at his sons here but he looks very weird, lol.

Next issue comes out December 3rd!

The fourth issue of the Gap Year comic has come out and it has a lot of Neytiri in it!

We start off with Bukowski watching the messages his wife sent him while he was in cryo. Unfortunately, she was sick and passed before he even got to see them. It is quite sad seeing her deteriorate in the video logs.

Then we also get to see his daughter and does she look like Kate Winslet to anyone else? I feel like the artists used her as reference, lol. Anyway, Bukowski is planning to lure Jake into a trap...

... and Jake falls right for it. Neytiri even warns him that she does not like it, she feels something is off, but Jake brushes it off.

That night, Neytiri has a nightmare about her father and the forest on fire.

Tuk comes to her in the middle of the night, having had a nightmare of her own. Poor girl, you have no idea how many times you're gonna get kidnapped. (Also, Neytiri looked really freaky in that third panel, lol.)

In the morning, Jake leads the warriors to battle, except it's a trap and Bukowski has his men surround them. Bukowski and Jake fight it out and I gotta say, if I had a nickel for everytime a (dire)horse got brutally attacked this week, I'd have two nickels (yes, I watch A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms).

The RDA goons put their flamethrowers to use, and Neytiri realizes her dream wasn't just a dream.

So she decides to fight fire with fire.

Thanks to her, the Na'vi are able to escape, but both sides took heavy losses. Bukowski also prevents another soldier from shooting Jake, lets Jake leave instead, saying he wants to break his spirit and sow the seed of doubt into the Omatikaya about Jake's leadership.

When they get back to High Camp, Neytiri has another moment with Tuk. I liked that this issue focused a bit more on their relationship.

Next issue comes out March 4th!
