One observation that has always made me laugh when compared to online collaborative communities is that Backrooms is possibly the most distinctive in terms of its organization.
SCP is basically Area 52 evelated to 100/1
Samosborn is Soviet Union in the House of Leaves
And the Holders are aa bunch of psychos that want the end of the world
And then we have the Backrooms, which existed long before Kane Pixels made his own version and before the wiki was organized in the way we see today. The truth is, it was very clear that the first organizations that researched Backrooms were actually a bunch of random people without any prior skills trying to get organized in some way.
I mean, compared to how formal and governmental the SCP page is at the same time both wikis were forming, the Backrooms wiki has a pretty informal tone, implying that most of the research and staff are mostly volunteers trying to investigate this without much government intervention—something that would later change with the Pixels version when it's explicitly shown that the US government is involved.
