The Lowry under construction 

1999

The building, named after the famous local artist L. S. Lowry was sited on pier 8 of Salford Quays at the heart of the regions old docks and played a major part in the regeneration of the area.

Designed by Michael Wilford, the complex contains a major art gallery and two theatres.
