A Party Without Me?
A fic consisting of primarily the Main Three and Atlas.
Inspiration: @wwakamole I quite enjoyed writing this and I hope you enjoy it too!
Summary: Atlas grounds the Main Three from their typical partying in preparation for a show, yet the three conjure revenge of their own with help from the Horsemen.
Word Count: 2.5k
Note: I literally had a chicken burger prior to writing this- If you do note of the discussion of burgers, please know it’s from me enjoying the food item too much- Do excuse or not <3 (Also, I’ve finished this fic like five minutes ago- Do inform me of possible errors- I’m too excited to post this-)
The apartment once cleaned and freed of young chaos for the purpose of practice now had its floor covered with energy drinks, fruity alcohol beverages, boxes that once possessed a variety of pizzas and a game of snakes and ladders. The walls were tinted with neon flickers of light. The rapid motion of said lights proved quite dizzying to Atlas who had just entered. June was the first to notice him.
“Guys…stop arguing about Bosco cheating. You need to look up,” she instructed. The can of Red-Bull in her hands waited to be opened.
“No, I’m not letting him win. He totally altered the position of the dice when I blinked.” Charlie pointed an accusing finger at Bosco. His eyes laced with annoyance in a squint.
“Hey, all that computer stuff you do is damaging your eyesight, so don’t even.” Bosco scoffed. His body peered over the board game, as though attempting to protect anyone from altering the game he was to win.
“No, seriously. Atlas is here.” June settled the can upon the counter, heading towards the man who had his arms crossed against his chest disapprovingly.
Bosco and Charlie looked up in-sync. Their eyes widening at the same pace. Bosco stood up instantly, forgetting to defend the board. Charlie stood up too, practically stumbling as he realised Atlas bore witness to a more competitive side of him.
“So, I arrive two hours late and this prompted a party? I know I didn’t answer your phone-calls, but I have due reason, so this is no excuse.” With every syllable and animated hand movement, his enunciation and volume increased. He had a rhythm going for him now.
“The floor bares resemblance to the streets outside, so this no environment for practice. Also, you guys are clearly too intoxicated and energetic to even hold a card steady, so I really don’t know what to do.” His arms dropped to the side an indicator that he concluded his speech. A coarse sigh left his lips.
“We’re so sorry, Atlas.” Charlie apologised with shame hushing the volume of his voice.
“Yea, we thought you were busy and decided to relax for a bit.” June offered a bit of defence.
“Well, nothing about what I see here is relaxing.” He gestured to the stack of pizzas boxes, curious about how the three before him consumed such an intense amount within mere hours.
Bosco sighed. His eyes focused upon the floor, yet that didn’t help. His shoes were tinted green and then blue. The colour-changing lights merely reminded him of their nonsense.
“I say the recovery period is going to take a week; thus, you’re grounded for the entirety.”
“What? Recovery period? Grounded? It sounds like you’ve had a past with hectic partying worse than ours, and parental demands really don’t suit you.” Bosco countered. His brows furrowed much too intensely.
“We have a show in three weeks. I need you three to be prepared and if this is the moment you learn to be disciplined, so be it. Get to cleaning up. I’ll be watching you.” Atlas stepped back, anticipating his departure.
“Okay, the Eye’s wannabe.” Bosco mumbled, turning around to find his half-finished Monster.
“I heard that, Bosco. Don’t let me revoke those energy drinks.” Atlas warned as he closed the gate and settled the disguising curtain just right.
“Oh, not the energy drinks.” June pleaded. Her eyes looked at the fridge. It solely had one bottle of water left.
-
The days of being grounded withered into an uncomfortable and boring Wednesday. June settled upon the couch, binge-watching her Scream DVDs for the fifth time. Bosco paced around the apartment, starting at Charlie who drew in his sketchbook.
“Can’t believe Atlas took away our phones without our knowledge. Who does that when people are sleeping?” Bosco complained, upset by the fact he couldn’t head out to Panda Express and satisfy his growing cravings.
“Atlas. He must have been advised by Henley and given accomplice by Jack. I did hear a boyish laugh just before I fell asleep.” Charlie admitted. The frustrated sound of his pencil ever so audible against his sketchbook.
“You didn’t inform either one of us?” Bosco halted in his repetitive walk.
“Dude, unlike you two, consuming energy drinks is the ultimate sleeping pill.”
“You two hush. I’m trying to find out why Billy looks so hot with blood covering him. I’m trying to justify this oddness in me.”
“Gosh, June. Did you hear what Charlie just said?”
“Yea, Jack helped steal our phones. Big deal. It’s not like we talk to anyone outside of us.” She confessed. She sat up, settling her knees and body against the couch in order to face Charlie and Bosco.
“True but rude.” Bosco scoffed out.
“I mean, we do have Henley and Atlas himself to contact.” Charlie remarked, his eyes lifting from the page.
“I think Henley is less strict than him, if you want me to offer something to this conversation.” June stated, her cheek resting against the couch’s back.
“When I consider it, it’s so strange. She’s a literal mother.” Charlie considered. His hands laid down his sketchbook. With this, he headed to the kitchen to conjure a cup of coffee.
“Of course Atlas is harsher than an actual parent. Who grounds twenty-year-olds over a party? A party that happened because he was rudely late. Are we dismissing this or what?” Bosco settled his hip against the couch; his arms crossed in typical fashion.
“Actually, I think we have been. I do find it a little annoying actually.” June looked up at him.
“As much as I admire him, I’m a little annoyed too. I can’t alter the projections without receiving warning to walk away from my computer for ten minutes. I’ve learned to listen instead of closing the damn window because it shuts down for two hours if I don’t comply.” Charlie sighed out as he settled the pod into the machine. The quick beeps of the machine showcased his impatience with the thing.
“Shall we do something about our collective fury?” Bosco proposed. The craving for takeout controlling his logic.
“I’m in. I’m really bored, so even just a plan would be fun.” June commented. Her eyes fierce and focused.
“I’ve been scribbling really horrid figures on this page, so I agree. A mere plan could be a good outlet.” Charlie’s brows furrowed as his thin lips displayed clear discomfort.
“It has to be a lesson of some sort.” Bosco exhaled his laughter out, already heading to where their massive whiteboard laid.
“Okay, Mister Leroy.” June tossed him the navy marker that once was placed upon the coffee table. “Educate us.”
-
June settled herself against the speaker closest to the gate, waiting for Jack. The music’s sound pulsed against her skin. She was glad her playlist was the one playing tonight. There’s nothing like 5SOS blasting on a Friday night. Her off-the-shoulder dress had colour-changing lights baltering all over their black fabric. Her eyes lazily observed the celling above her.
Gotta tell Bosco to patch up that crack of paint.
“Hey, June.” Jack greeted. Instead of wearing his typical leather jacket that was rather worn, he debuted another. It had small silver chains connecting the left and right sides as buttons should’ve done.
“You’ve gone all out I see.” A laughter of light amusement left her. June pressed the gate’s remote to allow him in.
“It’s a party of rebellion. I can’t conform to my typical self due to the occasion.” He held up a bottle of champagne, stepping inside.
“Oh, Charlie is so going to love you for this.” June commented as she walked inside with the last of their guests.
Jack observed the apartment. He was familiar with each corner due to his compliance with aiding Atlas with a somewhat ethical robbery. Yet, what drew his attention most was the smoke machine fogging the floor. He saw Bosco conversate with Henley and Meritt in the living room. He smiled upon noting Henley had a beer bottle in hand. It reminded him of their former days.
In the kitchen, Charlie was to be seen at the stove. Jack assumed he was cooking something absolutely divine. The scent of the dish steamed the floor after all.
“So, may I offer you a drink, Jack?” June proposed, her hand gesturing to the table possessing an assortment of drinks.
“Woah, how did you guys get all of this? I thought Atlas had forbidden you from leaving the house.”
“Meritt helped a bit.” June smiled in the man’s direction. He held a can coloured white and blue in his hands as he cracked some joke making Henley and Bosco laugh.
“Of course he did,” Jack laughed with ease, “I’ll take a beer.”
“Sure thing.”
He followed June to the table, settling the champagne upon the table’s last free corner. She gave him a bottle and he smiled his thanks.
“So, I did tell you that the three of us are about board and card games, yes?” June grabbed a soda for herself.
“Indeed. What are we to play tonight?” Jack inquired as they walked to the living room.
“Are you familiar with Thirty Seconds?”
“Aw, I suck at that. I’ll give it a go anyways.” He groaned out with barely concealed excitement.
“Be warned of Charlie. He knows too much.” June lowered her voice to appear playfully spooky.
“I don’t doubt it.”
-
“Hey, so how the heck? Did you and Henley connect that the words “green” and “annoying” meant Excel?” Bosco glared at Henley, Charlie and Meritt who sat opposite to him, June and Jack.
“He looked at me and then I pictured it.” Henley stated with delicate tease leaving her lips.
“So, now we’re using body language?” June pouted, staring at the board that wasn’t within her team’s favour.
“I didn’t expect her to look back at me. Besides, you got to admit it’s impressive as I was tending to the burgers as we played.” Charlie remarked. With this, he stood up and headed to the kitchen.
“I’m so ready to eat those.” Jack complimented. His boyishly characteristic smile eased upon his lips. He stood up as well and the rest followed.
“Question. Are peppers upon a burger controversial or…?” Bosco had begun a new conversation. The fruity energy flowing in his bloodstream wouldn’t allow him to exist in a moment of silence, for now at least.
“My kids like them, so I’d say they’re popular instead.” Henley commented, her head titling as she recalled the image of her fridge having a shelve full of vegetables.
“Kids are crazy, so I wouldn’t trust their taste.” June snickered.
“You guys are kids to us, so should we not trust yours?” Meritt teased, just before inhaling the last of sip of the can.
“Hey, you’re still drinking that blueberry canned cocktail I recommended you.” Bosco retorted, now walking backwards as he faced Meritt.
“Alright. As long as you give me these, I trust you.” Meritt shook the empty can in his hands. It was a physical demand for just another one…and maybe more.
“What materialistic trust.” Jack concluded their conversation, observing how Bosco’s lanky frame tippy toed around Charlie to reach the fridge.
The group settled around the kitchen, watching as Charlie concluded with his preparations regarding his restaurant worthy burgers. He even caramelised the onions.
“Damn, that looks awes- Uh oh, Atlas is calling.” Jack held up his phone and immediately answered. Despite the call’s audio not being put upon the speaker, they could hear rapid buzzes of chatter. He soon ended the call.
“He’s outside…”
“I’d better get that.” June excused herself from the group, heading towards the gate.
She pressed the remote, ready to be silenced by a continuous rant from Atlas. Before letting a word leave his lips, Atlas observed the room. He wasn’t too impressed by the fog machine or the fact Henley, Meritt and Jack rebelled against his instructions.
“You know, I was coming to check up on you three. Then I saw Henley’s car outside. Then I realised music practically pulsed through these walls. You know what I did next? I phoned Jack. I phoned you.” Daniel motioned his arm in the direction of Jack who had his lips pressed. “I phoned you and all I could hear was the music. The music I had been hearing outside.”
Bosco, with his phone behind his back, decreased the music’s volume in an attempt to remedy the display of conflict he saw upon Atlas’s face.
“I see that, Bosco. Lowering the music doesn’t do anything.” He stepped closer to the kitchen. June followed behind him.
“Don’t crucify these kids. I would’ve done the same.”
“You would, Meritt. But I wouldn’t have.” His eyes settled upon Charlie shifting to settle behind Henley.
“Atlas, before you scold them. Charlie sent me video as evidence of them practicing throughout the week. I indulged in their idea of a party as a release for them. Besides, I rather them have informed us than have done something worse like sneaking out.” As Henley vouched for them, June and Bosco nodded their heads synchronously. They knew they did it to spite Atlas, yet her defence provided them with all the more reason to have conjured a party.
The man comprehended her words. His eyes drifted to the ground, still disturbed by the fogged floor. The estimation of what to do next was clear upon looking at him. His brows furrowed in thought.
“You three, follow me. I believe discussion is needed here.” Daniel flicked his hands to gesture towards the door outside of June’s room. The three followed languidly behind, anticipating an intense parental talk and further grounding. The four settled before a framed poster of the Goosebumps movie.
“So, yet another party. Not the typical ones. One with people I’d consider close.” Daniel halted in his speech, intentionally creating suspense. He wouldn’t verbalise it, but he was fond of teasing worry upon his companions’ features. “And, one without me. Seriously?”
“Wait? You’re into partying?” Bosco immediately asked. His crossed eyebrows showcasing his amused confusion.
“Not into all of its aspects, but there are some intriguing things.”
“Like?” June inquired further. Her intrigue displayed upon her grinning lips.
“Observing the social chaos with a drink in hand.”
“Of course it’s nothing fun.” Bosco scoffed.
“Hey, not nice. I do that.” Charlie nudged Bosco’s shoulder with a light fist.
“So, you could join us, Atlas. Charlie can introduce you to the corner he spectates from and you’d have company.” June transitioned the brewing banter into a subtle negotiation for Atlas to reduce the stiffness of his jaw.
“Before that, we still have those burgers to eat. I’m pretty sure Charlie cooked extra. Charlie always cooks extra.” Bosco followed on June’s words. He rather have a party continued than a week of no partying again.
“A burger is not a proper apology gift, but that smell is certainly forgiving.”
Charlie smiled shyly as he in-took Atlas’s words. To his surprise, the man gave him a kind smile in return.

“Only Life, Fire, and Death,” Ginsenburg grunted, rubbing at her temples. “Rest of you, out. You’re making my head hurt.”
Was it worth all the trouble?
Just another wallpaper if you want. And possibly a cover for the Wattpad story based on my AU. I don't guarantee this fully.
