A thought about The Assembly
So that conversation between Caleb and The Martinet, Caleb asked what he knew about Trent’s teachings, and The Martinet said enough and that things got more out of hand than what Trent told them it would be.
My thinking? Caleb and Ludinus are having two different conversations. From canon, Liam hasn’t really focused on the expiraments Trent did on him and Astrid and Eodwulf, except for that one scene in Uthodurn with the shards of Residuum, but Caleb didn’t call that out, Liam did.
What is questionable but could be distorted for the good of the empire? Expiramentation with residuum, which involved maybe getting it from Whitestone while under control of the Briarwoods who had connections to known exiled former Assembly Member Anna Ripley, what can get out of hand? Turning it into expiramentation on underage children.
But what does Caleb find the most horrible about what he did under Trent? Killing his parents. Caleb is asking if The Martinet knows that Trent makes Vollstrecker kill their family as a last show of commitment to him, Trent.
Caleb wants to know if anyone in the Assembly knows about false memories and killing family. The Martinet is trying to justify human (children) experimentation. They’re having two different conversations imho, and if Caleb wants to get Trent permenantly kicked out, or face consequences, he’s going to have to admit to being forced to kill his parents.
happy fathers day to THE MARTINET <3
i love the martinet <3

The Martinet: Where are you going?
Wynore: To get a cup of coffee or commit a felony. I’ll decide on the way
