The Mindless

If we find ourselves lost in the forest,

What do we do?

We remember the demons behind us,

And the tempting angels ahead.

We take note of the details that ground us,

And help to guide us.

We keep moving so time doesn't find us,

But not to further embed

Ourselves in utter blindness,

And we pay no attention to the winding

Empty space deep in the forest

Singing the same old chorus,

Again and again.
