Fully I was moved to finish these with the DUTP Winx Collab announcement AND some critical videos of the new Winx reboot popping up on my YT feed (didn’t watch them, but it was a gentle reminder of just how much I do not vibe with modern Winx)

These girls look so good (imo)! I had a bit of trouble really seeing the reflective material of their witch looks when coloring them. I followed the notes in the Winx art book and for some reason I could see the material as reflective until I put ALL the highlights on, it was an interesting experience

⛈️🌪️Tempest, Witch of Storms🌪️⛈️

One of my characters to get a big make over, Tempest originally was going to have the same color palette as her mom (Stormy) but rather than a red-purple, she’d be more blue purple. However, As I started rendering her, I decided to look up oil paintings of tempests, and thought the murky blue-green of the ocean and lower skyline would be a better fit!

She turned out soooo cute! To me, she has that visible confidence that reads simultaneously as bitchy, which is in line with the characterizations I’ve written for her 🖤 I also had fun really pushing her angry expressions since I think even in early Winx, while the witches were allowed to pull more ugly faces than our fairies, they still didn’t push them quite as far as they could

❄️🌊Hel, Witch of Ice and Sea Storms🌊❄️

Where Tempest changed a lot, Hel barely changed other than her name (she and Tempest used to be Charybdis and Scylla respectively)

Listen, Icy is ✨I C O N I C✨ and I fully believe she’d have “copy-paste” genes, so her kids are just as beautiful as she is. Where Hel differs from her Mom is her ability to remain unnerved and resistance to any goading or anger. That is to say, she keeps her ego better in check. She also has a soft spot for her brother Achilles, like how Icy softened up when she fell for Tritannus

🌀Fortuna, Witch of Mind and Illusions🌀

Still my favorite post-rendering, Fortuna has evolved to have the more classic/vintage witch look like Lucy and Griffin ❤️🖤 Initially, she had the same face type as the Trix, but then as I considered her backstory, and also to add variety, the more classic features came out

Picture her taking more advantage of the tricks Darcy used in Season 1: seduction, manipulation, illusion magic, and deception, though she likely won’t be able/nor desire to use them to the same capacity as Darcy. She doesn’t antagonize fairies for the love the game like the Trix, Hel, and Tempest, rather, she feels like it’s her predestined role as a witch to be against fairies
