Originally it was used as a billiards room above a motor garage.

The Billiards hall became a nightclub (Frenchy's and later Barny's) which was located above The Tache, a heavy metal night spot.

All of the buildings in the period photograph have now since been demolished to make way for modern glass structures as part of the Talbot Gateway project.

The Tache, originally called Your Father's Moustache, was a rock & heavy metal music venue on Cookson Street. The building itself was divided into two nightspots with upstairs being known as Frenchy's, which later became known as Barney's.

It was later bulldozed to make way for the new council offices that were part of the Talbot Gateway redevelopment project.
