(r.e: the twr poem anon) — being polyamorous doesn’t mean you automatically have the freedom to just go out and sleep with whoever you want, there’s still a level of commitment and consideration when it comes to your partner(s); temptation elsewhere still exists and could absolutely be seen as cheating (or in this case “the wrong road”) if you view the relationship(s) you’re committed to as anything more than casual and perhaps haven’t been forthcoming about those elsewhere feelings.
Ok. Sorry, I responded to your second one first, thinking you were talking about the post I’d already made on the poem.
But you’re absolutely right. Being poly doesn’t give you free reign to sleep with whoever you want. Though, there could be instances where that may be what some couples have an agreement to include, as long as all partners are safe.
There are a lot of ways a poly relationships can work. And at the end of the day, we don’t know if Misha and Vicki’s relationship allowed for them to pursue potential long term romantic partners.
The poem could be about someone who was almost a one night stand or someone who had the potential to be a long term partner.
I think that no matter what the situation was, there some attraction and desire, on both parts.
When I read the poem, I interpreted it as someone who could have been a partner, not just a one night stand.
Maybe his relationship status at the time allowed this or maybe it didn’t.
I hadn’t really thought about that when I had read it previously.
But I could see it being about a temptation to possibly stray and in the end not following through.
Or maybe he was allowed to but Vicki (and/or any other partner) would have just preferred to not add any other relationships into the mix, either at that time or at all.
Though we don’t really know at what point of his life this occurred to have any glimpse into what his situation was at that moment.
There are a lot of interpretations and ways people could take a lot of his poems.
And it’s interesting to see the varying view points.
