Audrey is happiest when she’s among people whether it be in a crowd, with a friend or group of friends or one she loves. She’ll even rent an apartment in an older building where she can hear the faint sounds of the other tenants moving around. If she ever gets stuck being alone she’ll distract herself with action movies and games, anything to take her out of the moment. She absolutely hates being alone.

Whenever she gets angry she’ll go through a microshift. Her nails become claws, her teeth will become wolflike and her eyes turn yellow. Her belt keeps her from losing it completely but it’s only a tool, it won’t do all the work for her.

She didn’t answer right away. Her eyes were lost in another time, another place, to tiled halls bright and sharp as silver stinking of blood and bleach. A room, filled with machines centered around a table half glimpsed through a sedative fugue. A long drawn out moment of pain, as if her very being were being squeezed, ripped out by the roots from her body. Which, in essence, it was.

And then, a flash, a moment of relief, though the fire under her skin continued unabated. Disbelief. A tentative movement and then a wave of fury blooming outward like a malicious flower of liquid smoke from the operating table, consuming every living thing in its path. Finally, resolution into something that could be called wolflike, although no wolf was ever so big or so black or so relentlessly voracious. Screams from behind white masks, in panic, in horror. Then the halls again, a maze exploring every evil of humanity, navigated in search of only one thing…

A room smelling faintly summer and the sea and a smile she was sure she would never see again. Then nothing but blood and the sounds of tearing, as of flesh and fabric from bone. Which, in essence, it was.

Finally her gaze refocused and she spoke. “Mercy’s for ones who deserve it.“
