Sunset gave Raven a small smile as she called out “I will! Thanks again! I’ll see you later."
After paying for the products, Histcarp and all, decided to stop by a nearby pizza place for a bite to eat. A half hour later, she made her way back to the motel where she was staying at the current moment. It was a one of the seedier ones she had found, but she didn’t wanna overspend too much money lest she draw any unnecessary attention to herself.
After packing her small amount of toiletries, clothes, and her newfound products in a her backpack, she decided to go ahead and head back to the shop to meet Raven. The sun was slowly starting to set, so by the time she got there, the street lights were already being to flicker on. And thus, the darker side of the city was starting to show itself.
Sunset was unperturbed though. Even as she caught site of the three roughish looking thugs eyeing here ans her bike.
Raven came back to an empty tower, so she took the time to write a note (I’ll be out for a day or so. My communicator is on and I can be back quickly in case of an emergency - Raven) and set it on the counter. The empath stepped to her room, pulling a small backpack out of her closet to hold a pair of pajamas and few other necessities. Packed and ready, she left the tower and headed back to the shop.
It was getting dark now, and Raven knew how the city could be at night. She hoped Sunset wasn’t waiting outside and alone. Flying a bit faster, she made it back to the shop to see Sunset and the thugs who were approaching. Gritting her teeth, Raven dropped down nearby and put herself between the woman and the thugs.
“Leave, and there won’t be any problems.”
Do you want to know a secret? This tale of foolish people long ago… I know what happened, and what is true… but I don’t know how it should end. Let me tell it one more time, and perhaps together, we will see.

Leo’s mask raised, showing the surprise he felt. “ If I’m not the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen you must live a pretty exciting life. ” He lowered his sword but didn’t put it back in its sheath, not yet convinced that there was no threat present. “ Though, I figure no normal person would be up on a rooftop this late at night. ” He shrugged.
When she lifted his hands to her he was surprised again at her clothing under the cloak. She looked like a comic book superhero, and at this moment he wasn’t entirely sure she wasn’t. He had been down that road before. “ And you’d be from..? ” He asked, curious as to where someone like her could have come from.
Raven smirked at that. Exciting life was an understatement, perhaps it got too exciting at times. “Yeah, that I do,” she admitted, shifting on her feet and crossing her arms over her chest. She wanted to keep her cloak open, she knew that being hidden under it could make people nervous, but she also wasn’t used to being so open. A middle ground for her.
“Jump City,” she answered easily. “California.” Quite a ways from here, but these herbs were important and they couldn’t just be delivered. If that meant traveling across the country for them, then fine, that’s what she’d do. Though it’s time she addressed the elephant in the room, or rather, the turtle in the room. “So what’s the story behind--” she gestured at the other with a hand. “-- this?”
huntressthewizard:
🍃🏹➳ “I see, my condolences,” she replied. The huntress had to wonder who or what exactly she was looking at, however, with a response like that. She had never known any active magic practitioners who didn’t harmonize with natural magic very well. That pointed either towards a disability or a racial trait. Demons in particular, being from an alternate source of life entirely, did not usually mix well with drawing magic out of nature. She said nothing about it, however– it was none of her business.
That would be fascinating, though, the idea of a demon, or at least, someone being possessed or assisted by a demon through magical means, wishing to use their powers to protect and assist rather than to their own personal gain. Again, it was none of her business, but the half-dryad couldn’t help but take interested in the other.
“Well, I have heard of alternate healing forms other than drawing from nature or calling upon higher powers; I’ve heard of a small coven that simply accelerates the patient’s body cells to heal quicker, or they use their own cells and transfer the healing process to the patient. They’re called the Cult of Skulls– sounds intimidating, but the title is merely a relic of what their original purpose was, Blood magic, they’re actually decent folk, provided you don’t provoke them. You could try learning healing magic from them if you can find them.”
The empath nodded. “Thank you,” she mumbled, grateful for the other’s thoughtfulness. Truthfully, few people have actually said that to her. Thinking back, it might’ve only been Robin, but then again, she didn’t broadcast her past to her friends for obvious reasons. It was nice to hear it, and it brought back fond memories of training with Azar when the rest of the order hadn’t tried to aid her. It wasn’t the time to reflect on that, though. She could do so when she meditated later.
Raven listened carefully, eyebrows raising at each word. That sounded.. useful. Like it could be right up her alley. If she could even find them. “Cult of Skulls,” she repeated, pursing her lips in thought. “That.. might work well for me, actually. Do you have any information on where they could be? Or is there a book here on them?”
thewanderingsunset:
“Oh, you have roommates? Do you live here in the city?” She asked with a small smile.
“It’s a decently sized town. Not like here though. When I first got here, I was pretty overwhelmed with all the people and activity that was happening in the city.” She said, flashing Raven a smile.
“And do you need a lift? I can give you a ride wherever you need to go.”
Raven nodded. “Yeah, we live near the bay,” she explained, nodding a head in the general direction. “I understand. When I first got here, it took a while to get used to the bustle.”
The empath pursed her lips, wondering if she should allow this outsider to know about what she did for a living here in Jump City, before she finally shook her head. “That’s alright. I can head over there on my own and meet you back here in about an hour.” With that, the half demon walked away from the other girl, approaching the counter with her own purchases. “Don’t forget to get your histcarp,” she called over her shoulder as she finalized her purchase, taking the bag and nodding at the shopkeeper with a smile. It would take about fifteen minutes to fly to the Tower, then she’d need to pack a small bag of her belongings and tell the others of where she was going.
the2012turtles:
Leo was on patrol alone that night, Mikey and Donnie having teamed up and Raph going off with Casey in tow. It had been a fairly quiet night, mostly just running the rooftops of New York and getting a good work out in, fairly uninterrupted. He thought of calling his brothers and telling them to turn in if they haven’t found anything and would have if he hadn’t heard the voice speak behind him.
He turned quickly, drawing one of his swords in case the owner of the voice turned out to be a threat. Better safe than sorry, of course. He did not expect to find a teenage [maybe human?] girl standing behind him dressed in a dark cloak. He gave her a once-over, then another for good measure, keeping his sword at the ready. “A turtle? Yes.” He told her, guessing on the question. That was usually the first thing people asked if they didn’t outright scream.
At the sword being drawn, Raven tensed her muscles, mantra on the tip of her tongue in case of an attack. She didn’t want to fight in an unfamiliar city without back up, so she nodded at the answer to the question with an aim to get the weapon put away. “I guess it’s not the weirdest thing I’ve seen,” she conceded. Yeah, she figured that Beast Boy probably beat a humanoid turtle with a sword. Probably. Thin margin.
The girl sighed, lifting her hands from beneath her cloak to show herself as unarmed (not that it mattered, but hey, at least her hands weren’t glowing with magic). “I’m just visiting,” she explained. “Trying to find the alchemical shop. They have ingredients here that they don’t have where I’m from.”
Greetings Raven! I would be pleasantly interested to know what your honest Opinion on the Songs called Voices by Motionless In White, Monster by Starset & Into the Fire by Asking Alexandria? ^^
“Hey there. I got your last message, but had misplaced it among my spellbooks. I managed to find it, so I’ll listen to the songs you had in there, too. Cult of Personality by Living Colour has a nice beat, and there’s an interesting message behind it. I couldn’t find a Devil’s Sky by Dillon Spears, though.. As for Just Close Your Eyes by Waterproof Blonde, I like it quite a bit. Certainly lines up with my tastes.”
“Now for your current message. Voices by Motionless In White is definitely getting added to one of my playlists. I was already a big fan of Starset and their song Monster. Into the Fire by Asking Alexandria isn’t one of my favorites, but I still like it.”
baddeleyite:
Baddeleyite was unnaturally still as the empath spoke to her, her body sharing none of the organic tics or involuntary movements inherent to humans. She could almost be mistaken for a statue if it weren’t for her coloring.
“It is rather nice, I suppose.” She replied after a few moments, finally opening her eyes and turning to look at her. “A lot less lonely than my normal meditation, at least.”
The empath nodded slowly, eyes drooping back closed. “I have several friends who have tried to join me in meditation,” she explained quietly, shoulders slumping just a bit. “They.. try, and I appreciate the effort. None of them really have the patience for it.” The closest was probably Starfire, who managed to stay with her for a full half hour in meditation. It was a feat that made Raven remember why she considered the alien her best friend.
“I suppose it’s just a bit.. discouraging,” she spoke. “This is as much a hobby of mine as video games are to them, or shopping, or training. Something I’d.. like to share with them.” She let a sigh escape her lips.
thewanderingsunset:
Sunset seemed to block once or twice, as if stunned before she broke out into a small grin. “Oh! Um, sure! I think that could be fun! Only, I… I don’t actually live in Jump City.” She said with a sheepish smile. “I live in Canterlot, a few hours from here. This was the closest city that had the ingredients I needed since Canterlot is very…” she tapped her fingers together, seemed ponder on what words to choose before she finally chose, “Limited, on what they have.”
“I just don’t wanna take you away from here if you still have things to do.”
Raven nodded in understanding, thinking on whether she could afford to leave for a day or so. Things have been quiet lately, and it wasn’t as if she couldn’t get back to Jump City in an emergency with an hour or so of flying. “I’d just have to leave a note for my roommates,” she assured. “I won’t be missed for a day.” If anything, they might be happy that she’s opening up a bit.
Her lip curled up just a bit in a small smile. “I’ve never heard of Canterlot, though. Can’t be too big of a town.”
SELF - KNOWLEDGE QUESTIONNAIRE . repost, do not reblog !
INDEPENDENCE
You don’t set out to be different for its own sake; you are more easily guided by what interests and moves you. You are more concerned about what is right for you than about the pressure to fit in. In sex you are more aware than others of impulses which are not entirely conventional. You know the value of selective irresponsibility, of forgetting occasionally about being ‘good’.
SHYNESS
Part of you is gripped by the fear that you’ll launch into something and completely mess it up. The upside of this is wise caution: people are indeed often too rash, whereas you know, by instinct, that holding back can save you. Probably, you feel shame and self-disgust a bit too much. But when you do feel in your element, you act with a wisdom and sensitivity never found in people with thicker skins.

Raven wasn’t opposed to walking where she needed to go. It could be nice if she wanted to be inconspicuous, and relaxing in itself, but it was just so much easier to fly over a city to find where she was trying to go. Navigating city streets wasn’t one of her strengths, unfortunately. So she decided to leave at night, her dark cloak making her blend into the night sky as to not arouse too much suspicion in a strange place.
Though, looking down onto the roof and seeing a turtle that was way too big to be normal, maybe she wasn’t the oddest thing that wandered the city. Curiosity got the best of her, and she flew a bit closer, hovering over the building the turtle-thing was standing on. An eyebrow raised. Was that a sword? Okay, yeah, weird. “Uh, are you..?” She doesn’t bother finishing her sentence.

Inktober Day 23: Favorite Teen Titans character — Raven! So cool and spooky yes.
Raven, forgive my interruption, but… I haven’t seen Robin, Cyborg, or Beast Boy. Truthfully, I am wishing to join you in meditation. Really?
My powers are driven by emotion. The more you feel, the more energy you unleash.
