You can’t rush these sorts of repairs. My ship is very sensitive and well, if I were to bring home some half-assed project, do you know what he would do? He would spit it right back out at me. Then I’d have to come back here and start from scratch. ”

🪪 - What's consistent between RP life and not? Anything about you bleed into your writing?

Well, aside from the whole Phantom Thieves and summoning Personas, Persona 5 is very true to modern day and a lot of the game is just essentially going through a year in the life of Joker - doing what I'm sure we all do - studying, having a job, going shopping, going to the arcade, hanging out with our friends - it's more grounded and more relatable, it's not some medieval fantasy setting or space setting - which while both are incredibly fun, I don't think many people could really relate to living in a medieval era of knights, sorcery and dragons, lol - so in that sense, it makes it easier and more natural for me.

I wouldn't say parts of me as I try to keep myself very separate from RP, but I've always said I am very inspired by things around me - I go to the beach, I come home wanting to do beach threads. I play a tycoon game and suddenly I think a game about running your own restaurant seems fun. I pick up inspiration and ideas very easily.

Ways that we're the same - we're both loyal friends or try to be, we're both passionate in different ways - he's loud and proud about it, I'm on the quieter side.

Differences, he's an extrovert, I'm an introvert - he's more athletic, I'm more into writing and building models, more nerdy hobbies I guess, he's also a lot more aggressive and acts on impulse whereas I try and think things through.

Last time I thought about him? Pretty recently - I dig into his tag often in the hopes of finding fanart or some interesting headcanons and I do so several times a day, so I'd say at least once every few hours.

7. How has your muse changed over time? How different are they from when you first started writing them?

Oh gosh, well when I first started writing him it was a little before even the game's Japanese release date, so I'd say just going off that alone, he changed a substantial amount over the course of the main game, alone.

8. How has your muse grown over time? What have they overcome in their personal story? What new challenges do they face?

I think what I find comforting about Ryuji is that although he did change and develop a bit over the course of the game, at his core, he doesn't change as a person - he's still an optimistic goofball. I wrote a headcanon essay about this before but I think the biggest change he went through was his arc in the game - where he initially started out wanting to help others but got swept up in the internet fame and the glory and sort of briefly lost sight of why they were doing what they were doing - but he gets his head back on straight and his priorities refocused.

As for new challenges, I believe the end of Royal mentions he's going to try rehab or physical therapy so I imagine that will be his next big challenge - going through that and once again trying to pursue what he loves, that being track and running.

"Around here...?" He glances around at all of the various different stalls, at all of the people donning colourful summer attire like kimonos and jinbei - and then finally, his fingers tug at the mask hanging on the side of his face - something he'd purchased some years ago but something he was still sure to bring him with for every festival.

"Looks like this is an end of summer festival!" He grins, folding his arms behind his head. "Never been to one, before...?"

‘Oh! You know, there’s one I’ve been listening to a lot lately...’ 

He knelt down by a stack of newer albums, ones he hasn’t had a chance to organize into his meticulously arranged collection. Finding the one he’s looking for, he offers it over with a smile. 

‘Ever heard of Yarni? I started listening to his work recently--it’s great when you're in the mood for something jazzy, but not something overly mellow. His music has this very unique sound, it’s a blend of electronic and acoustic. I haven’t been able to get enough of his new album; he’s coordinating an ensemble of different musicians--they all improvised their sets remotely, and then he pieced them together to make them fit together just so naturally. The flutist he works with in particular, she’s phenomenally talented. Her tracks are probably my favorites.'
