Aphelios' eyes narrowed as he signed towards Kayn, hands noticably shaking. It took everything he had not to scream those words instead. They never understood. They never really would. Noone could see just how much he was hurting on the inside every day that he had to sit on the sidelines merely watching while they lived the dream he'd been forced to abandon.

❛ You have no idea what it's like — how painful it is to know that I can never stand up there with the rest of you. Noone gets to tell me that it's okay or that I'm lucky for still being able to 'make it'. ❜

Her voice trailed off, lost for words at what he was saying.  There was no use trying to comfort him   —   that wasn’t something that he needed, nor would she even know where to start.  Obviously she knew what he was talking about, and it would be a lie to say if there weren’t some days where she doubted that he did, however...

Rather than immediately speak, the magus shifted to sit beside him, her head gently resting against his arm as she tried to collect her thoughts.  Sure, it’d be nice for him to talk about how he really felt, to admit to himself and her everything he’d been feeling over their time spent together...  But for him that was an impossibility.  

Finally, her gaze shifted upwards to look at him, scanning over his features to see that he was staring at her, expecting some kind of answer to his words.

“  I know you do, and I do trust you.  If you didn’t then...  You wouldn’t be as gentle with me as you are, even if you don’t think that’s the case.  I can’t say that I’ve never had a moment where I’ve doubted you, but deep down I already know how much you care, even if you can’t say it yourself...  And...

I care about you as well, okay?  That won’t ever change.  ”

((The fandom was very different 4 years ago. It was enough that one blog established as she put it, “a cult” of friends around her. It was bad enough that apparently I was warned about to blogs in the touhou fandom when I tried to join it at the same time. It’s made me paranoid about it happening again for years.))
