You're a welder in training??? That's so cool!! Care to share some of the stuff you do? It always looked so friggn hard and magical
Omg... replying 3 yrs later sorry!!! 🙈🙈🙈
But it's pretty cool, and straightforward. In my program we go over all of the basic types of welding (stick, GMAW/mig, GTAW/tig, flux-cored and metal-cored) along with a few really specialized ones we get to play with (robotic, mechanized, mounted on a tractor) and I'm taking a specialized course on metallurgy that looks into the components and alloys that are added to metals to see what effect each of them has on metals. That, along with temperatures and stresses and stuff :p and we go into inspection methods for welding, it's a lot.
Writing down a rlly basic reply made me realize just now that it's all really a lot that we do :p oops! But its overall really fun, aluminum tig welding is probably actually my favourite, even though it can be notoriously difficult to get the hang of at first.
I like to make art, so for me it's also a great way to get a side hustle of making cool metal art started, when I start my career and get into a shop :)
We train in my program as welders and welding inspection (all the safety regs/ codes around welding stuff together, structural and for pipes and boilers and stuff, as well as specialized inspection methods) so if you (or anyone else) has any questions in specific, ask away!! I dont know everything but if I don't, I can certainly find out 🙂👩🏭👩🔬
