So I have a few questions. One is, I'm taking the PSAT next fall and I don't think I have accommodations (my choice, though I'm just realizing I've never taken a standardized test w/o them...) but if it turns out that I really do need them, can I get them on the SAT itself even without having had them on the PSAT? Also, when I took the ISEE I got an accommodation that let me circle the answer instead of having to do the bubble sheets; I don't think I'll need that particular one, but I... (1/?)

…will reprise itself for the PSAT/SAT, but if it does I don’t want to just sit there and grit my teeth through another long test. (I got in the 99th percentile on the AP test, but I left several questions blank I might’ve been able to get and the whole experience was extremely stressful, far more so than your average standardized test.) If something similar happens, should I tell the test administrator that their timer is obnoxious and could it please be turned off?  Or something else?  (3/3)

If you usually get accommodations, you should probably apply for them now. Do it as soon as possible because the process can take several months.

Btw, you are not expected to answer every question on these kinds of standardized tests. They give you more questions than a person could possibly answer. It’s how the tests are designed. For example, I got two questions wrong on the SAT Verbal, but I still scored 800 (a “perfect score”).

looking up gifted characteristics- will do, I have more time now that school's out. As for identifying/testing for gifted kids, I don't think my school does- it's a fairly little private school with something like eighty kids a grade, I don't think there's enough to make it worth their while to do it, and I don't think they'd be able to do much about it even if they did, for the same reason, so.... yeah.

Here's a list of some resources I find useful. I usually use the "For Parents" resources on websites because as a GT Adult who can look at things for herself, I find that the "For Students" information on GT websites is rarely if ever written to me or in the terms that I need it. The information designed for parents is much more in depth and describes things better most times, and I find that it helps me a lot more.

Things in that list I recommend reading are the Glossary, Myths, FAQ, Identification, Characteristics, and Traits. Of course, it's all useful information (that entire website is), but those are my favorite pages to refer to on their website.

(sorry if you already answered this) is it typical for gifted kids to have some areas where they're far above average and some where they're far below? I took an iq test when I was 8, in just the main iq part my verbal comprehension score was 140 and my processing speed one was 91, in the achievement tests I got 132 in calculation and 78 in math fluency (98th percentile and 7th percentile, it's funny b/c that's the highest and lowest scores and they're next to each other) idk if this is typical?

Yes, this is absolutely normal! Something even adults who are supposed to identify gifted students often forget (or purposely ignore) is that a GT student is not always broadly-GT. The areas that come easily can be subject-specific, and it’s very possible for a GT student to struggle, or even need extra help in other areas. Unfortunately, they aren’t always allowed that help, even though they should be.

This book review says that this book touches on this topic, which honestly makes me eager to go find the book to read it! It’s extremely hard to find reading on this topic because it’s something that isn’t talked about nearly as much as it should be. Not to worry though, that’s something that is actually far more common that people tend to believe!

If you are able and the cost is reasonable, you could take another IQ test. Note, that IQ is not static, it fluctuates! Also, it's important which IQ test you take. The WISC and Stanford-Binet tests will have different scores, especially for those students outside of the average range. If you Google IQ tests and gifted students, you'll likely find hundreds of articles of people discussing just that.

1. If you opened an amusement park, what would its theme be?

If i were to open an amusement park it would be book themed. Each ride will be based off of an iconic book and there will be character statues and a reading tent and it would be epic 2. If you were a dragon, what kind of breath would you breathe?

I would breathe white fire because it is the hottest but is also sparkly, so I can be pissed off and adorable 3. What is your favorite landmark?
