The Bros. Landreth
These guys are truly one of the hottest Canadian bands out there right now. Right out of the gate these guys were a hit. Things really took off once Bonnie Raitt fell in love them last summer at the Winnipeg Folk Fest. A mix of blues, soul, folk and rock, these guys have it all. Be sure to get out and see them if they’re ever in your area.
This is the video that won me over a few years ago,
Week 11!
I couldn’t have picked two better shows to finish my internship with if I tried. Friday night was The Bros. Landreth (who won a Juno award), and Saturday was The Ragbirds. There’s a great write up on Billboard about The Bros. Landreth here: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/the-615/6327854/bros-landreth-interview. It was awesome to talk with the band and see them perform in such an intimate venue before their career takes off even further. The Ragbirds show was a Music Night on Jupiter promoted event. The band was very talented, and the crowd loved their performance. I greeted the guests, worked the front ticket booth, and assisted with other show night tasks. It was cool to see the Bros. Landreth show come together because they were one of the first artists I focused on when I got the internship in February. I created a media list to send to the band’s management to generate press for them. They were one of the first bands I sent the list to, and they were able to utilize my contacts to promote the show. The list included all local media outlets such as newspapers, radio, TV, blogs, college media, etc. Other artists like Kristeen Young commented that the media list was helpful. The Pittsburgh Winery can continue to use the media list to send to the managers and agents, and hopefully I will make more contacts to add to their list. Although my internship for college credit has ended, I will still be at the winery! I will be working a few shows part time and helping with any other events where they could use my assistance. I learned so much and made so many new connections from this internship. The whole experience was beneficial and fun! I acquired even more skills and am confident that I want to continue pursuing a career in the music industry.
