3D movies were super popular in the 50s and 60s but fell out of fashion. I think it'll probably happen again.

it's not really to the same scale, though

like the top grossing film of all time is in 3d. gravity basically cleaned up the visual side of the oscars this year. hugo did really well a couple of years ago, i think.

but like, ben-hur wasn't in 3d.

like i said earlier somewhere, i don't want every film to be 3d. and i'm not saying 3d won't fall out of fashion, who even knows. i'd be sad if it did, because of the few movies i've seen where it's really really worked for me

There is early Ancient Greek detective fiction, Arab detective fiction (Arabian nights and the Scheherazade stories) and ancient Chinese detective fiction. Pinning down the genre to one nationality is incredibly reductive.

twas the point of the post, my friend. pinning down a specific genre to a specific country is hella dumb. talent is not conclusive to one nationality.
