PIF Day is a humanitarian holiday. Its a day where you make an effort to show society and the world how good of a person you are; how good a person can be. Its a holiday promoting generosity and humility.
This is a day inspired by the idea that we can help each other, and should help each other. I personally can’t name one time that I’ve helped someone (not at the expense of a third party’s disapproval) and felt bad about it. There have been times where I didn’t want to help someone and did, and I felt better about it (and myself) afterwards.
My goal is to turn the [grouches, grumps, stingies, greedies, assholes, and plain out bad people] into [smilers, high-fivers, teammates, generous, helpers, and much needed good people]. Even if its only for a day.
Similar to Christmas, [PIF] Day is a day of giving. What makes it different- you’re not giving thought-out presents to close friends and family. Instead, your giving some kind of good deed (or as many good deeds) to the world, infesting society (and the world) with good vibes. Also, there’s no religion involved, only spirituality. With that said, you’re welcome to bring religion in as inspiration and motivation if you’d like! Whatever the reason, if you’re doing something that will benefit someone else, thats all that matters.
On [PIF] Day, there are many ways you can spill your deed all over society. It can be big or small, cheap, expensive, or free. As Valentine’s Day is referred to as a “Hallmark Holiday”, [PIF] Day will be seen as a “Go Fund Me” holiday. Not that everyone MUST jump on Go Fund Me that day, but its one of the basic, more convenient methods. It can be cheap or expensive. You can give to someone/something you want to and feel good about supporting; and that someone will be happy to have support.
Other ways of helping would be free labor, holding a door, donating, picking up a tab, or even giving something away for free. The idea is not wanting anything back but the joy of bringing smiles and good vibes into the world; showing others what it looks like to be humble.
I encourage people sharing their deeds on social media! If you want to keep it between you and the other party, thats just as rad. Doing humanitarian things for people is something our society needs, and can never have enough of. Also, feel free to implement the 1³ concept from the movie. As much as possible, I’d also like the “deeder” to promote passing on the good to the “deedee”, in hopes momentum will be created.
We live in a world where innocent lives starve, and die for reasons we can prevent. We live in a world where people resort to devious and unlawful acts because of what they don’t have. I understand we have bills to pay and families of our own to feed; but it doesn’t take much to change someone’s day, or even their life. If you’re flat broke, there’s still something you can give. The more people we help as Americans, and as people, the better our society and the world becomes. Greedy, selfish, stingy, and gluttonous should never be words that we take pride in as Americans, and people; and if you believe that, then help me spread the love.
