Today we mark the 40th anniversary of the UK release of Pink Floyd's The Final Cut, which spent 25 weeks on the charts, reaching number one. Here's a US advert for the album. 🎧
Never have I ever
Have you ever listened to “The Final Cut” without doing anything else? You were just lying on your bed/couch/floor/whatever and fully gave yourself away to the music?
People may say it’s one of the weakest Floyd albums but for me it clearly isn’t. As soon as I lie down and turn on the first song I feel like I’m going to a melancholy trip. At these moments I feel Waters aching thoughts, I feel the lyrics’ pain. I feel like I understand what’s going on in this mastermind of an artist - even though I actually don’t. I feel the music floating my body. It’s an amazing feeling. It takes you away from the real world for a short while.
I think that’s beautiful.

And as the windshield melts My tears evaporate Leaving only charcoal to defend. Finally I understand the feelings of the few. Ashes and diamonds Foe and friend We were all equal in the end...
And if I show you my dark side, will you still hold me tonight?
