New Music - Review
This past weekend at the B96 Summer Bash ‘17 in Chicago, Camila Cabello sang couple of new songs Havana, OMG and I’ll never be the same, honestly I think they are so much better than the other two she released as “lead singles”.
“I have questions” it’s a good record because it serves as interlude to the whole album, but as far as sound and lyrics, it’s so much more in her lane. So basically we can tell that the label is taking this decisions for her (duh) and they are doing it poorly.
“Crying In The Club” sounds so much like a Sia song and that’s the part that makes Sia such a good artist because she has this signature in everything she does/collabs but that’s why I don’t love Camila singing it, because I keep thinking I’ll sound so much better if Sia was on it.
But anyways “I’ll never be the same” is a great record, I like the tempo, the lyrics and it does sound more her style, with some Taylor Swift vibes but don’t hate it. “OMG” is a good record but it sounds a little bit like plastic pop (which we all love ngl) and “Havana” is also great because touches upon her roots and it has this latin vibe, that for obvious reasons fits her so well and then again is authentic to her.
So let’s just hope they released them soon so we can appreciate them better in their studio version.
Ways
You said you loved me in the most honest ways I could never forget that time you took me home to make sure I got safe You took my nectar and I gave you my flower That soft pink matter I gave you my rose and you picked my petals Yet you never gave me flowers I found myself losing myself Trying to find you When you left me in the most honest way
40 Years! Tears For Fears - The Hurting: A Groundbreaking Debut Album | Happy Anniversary Tears For Fears‘ debut album „The Hurting“ is a groundbreaking release in new wave music. It’s emotionally charged, dealing with themes of pain, isolation, and trauma. The sound is a mix of synth-pop, post-punk, and art-rock, with memorable hooks and lush production. The album’s hits, „Mad World“ and „Change,“ are classic examples of 80s new wave. But it’s the deeper cuts that showcase the band’s depth. „Pale Shelter“ is a haunting ballad, „Ideas As Opiates“ a philosophical meditation, and „Start Of The Breakdown“ a powerful rock anthem. „The Hurting“ is a masterful work of art that continues to inspire. 39 anos atras foi lançado um dos meus discos preferidos, “The Hurting” do @tearsforfearsmusic O album traz obras primas como a faixa titulo e mais “Mad World”, “Pale Shelter”, “Memories Fade” e “Suffer The Children” entre outras. Musicas magnificas, arranjos e letras incriveis que nortearam meu gosto musical na adolescência. 07/03/1983 | Happy Release Day 1983 | Tears For Fears - The Hurting Mercury #tearsforfears #TheHurting #Mercury #mercuryrecords @tearsforfearsmusic @mercuryrecords Allmusic: „The Hurting would have been a daring debut for a pop-oriented band in any era, but it was an unexpected success in England in 1983, mostly by virtue of its makers' ability to package an unpleasant subject „ Rolling Stone: „Tears for Fears may be too concerned with their own petty traumas, but it is a testimony to their refined pop instincts that they manage to produce this much pleasure from the pain.“ The Quietus: „The album itself, meanwhile, was entirely conceptual, honing in on a particularly unusual topic: the psychological traumas of childhood and their long term effects, something with which both musicians were more than familiar.“ Albumism: „Stark, bleak, and morose, The Hurting is filled with droning atmospherics, sparse grooves and heavy synths that could easily come across as sterile and clinical, but are injected with heartfelt (if somewhat cliché and romanticized) lyrics and emotional vocals that add a much needed sense of warmth and relatability to the mix.“ Record Collector: „While other twosomes were singing about Club Tropicana, Bath-based duo Tears For Fears (Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith) came from a much darker place in the early 80s.“ „… a surfeit of complex ideas reflecting troubled upbringings married with immediate, infectious, hummable tunes.“ https://www.instagram.com/p/CaziZWhOah4/?utm_medium=tumblr
It’s been awhile since I last worked from home and missed playing music as I worked. So here’s today’s working from home music: Tears for Fears - “The Hurting” and “Songs from the Big Chair” It’s been quite a while since listening to either of these albums. My favourite of theirs is The Hurting. So many great songs on this album. Looking forward to seeing them live June 2022 for the first time! #tearsforfears #thehurting #songsfromthebigchair #rolandorzabal #curtsmith #vinyl #vinylcollection #vinylrecords #vinyljunkie #vinyladdict https://www.instagram.com/p/CWWlOOOPno4/?utm_medium=tumblr
