Tonight I finished the @bikecitywoodworks kumiko kit. I am happy with my work. Pretty good for a first attempt, I think. This was a great little exercise in mindfulness, precision and repetition and I’d suggest it to any woodworker who would like a side project or something to slow down and unwind with. With the kit, all you need is a sharp chisel and you’re ready to go. I think the two key points that make this look nice were 1) a razor sharp chisel for every cut, honing in between. And 2, taking it slow. You could knock this thing out in an hour, but that wasn’t the point for me. Since I haven’t been able to get to the bigger stuff I had to put on hold, this was a great way to get into the shop for just a few minutes at a time, make a little progress and feel encouraged for the next step. I plan to do some more of these in the future, but for now, I’ll need to put it aside somewhere I can admire it as well as remind myself to stop, sharpen up, and take it slow. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #wood #woodwork #woodworker #woodworking #woodworkingcommunity #igwoodworkingcommunity #diy #doitforyourself #handmade #handcrafted #finewoodworking #accessories #handmade #maker #buylocal #buysmall #nj #PA #newjersey #pennsylvania #thejawnshop #kumiko #asanoha #mindfulness #meditation #bikecitykumikokit https://www.instagram.com/p/BrWWhIPAfXR/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=bn8zoylr3381
