I saw you're answer about why you shipped ROLO and you honestly perfectly out into word why I ship the also. <3 but it made me wondered, in what new wolverine book will they be breaking up? And did they hint as to why? Thank you!
Hi! Thank you for the kind words. The new book I mentioned was the new Wolverine solo (vol. 6?), still written by Paul Cornell, that will be launched as part of All-New Marvel Now in February. Basically, it will show the consequences of his losing his healing factor, which will lead him to go out on his own like in the old days and, apparently, make some his established relationship crumble. There’s more about it here. And something that is in the interview linked there but not the post itself, it seems Wolverine will have a new romantic (or sexual?) interest in that book.
But maybe that’s just on the Wolvie solo book; maybe they’ll stay friends a bit longer in the other ones, particularly the new Wolverine and the X-Men. From Jason Latour’s interviews, like this one, we gather they’ll continue to work together at the school, though quotes like “She’s ready and able to do whatever it takes to protect these kids but, as someone who loves her, is that something Logan wants for her? Does he have any say in it? Should he?” make Wolverine sound like an asshole and almost makes me wish she’ll dump him already except not really. There’s also the CBR interview, that offers a better tease of how things will go:
Storm is a pretty integral part of this story. If anyone knows what Xavier’s legacy means it’s her, and she will stay on as headmistress. But with Logan weakened, Ororo finds herself in a position that we’ve seen break X-Men leaders past in two. The lengths she’ll go to in order to protect the school is a fear she and Logan share, and it will bring out possibly the best and worst of her. She’s ready and able to do whatever it takes to protect these kids but, as someone who loves her, is that something Logan wants for her? Does he have any say in it? Should he?
Add to the mix that Logan’s not quite himself anymore, so keeping him safe is squarely on Storm’s shoulders. They’re a real team. At the end of the day this school is theirs together, and I’m really interested in showing just how much they mean to and for one another.
I don’t know about you, but I’m really looking forward to the new WATXM! I can say I’m entirely sure how, and if, this fits in any way with what Cornell will be doing in the Wolverine solo, but I can’t say that I care, as I only intend to read one of those series.
