You get to a point where you don't care for what others think, not that you ever really did. You fall in love with yourself again, and again. you work hard and you stay out the way, but not with your head down, but with your head held high. You fight everyday and somehow the scars make you that much more beautiful. It's okay if some days you don't like yourself as much, but don't beat yourself up over it. Take a nap, do something new, write yourself a letter and mark it with a future date to open, do your hair, play dress up, but ultimately love yourself because it's the one person you spend all your time with - - - - #TheManyRealms #TMR #ArtistOfTomorrow #TheManyRealmsGirl #OpenSpace #Inspiration #inspirationalquotes #ZaraShoes #RossShorts #hnmshirt #gottagotoross #fashion #plants #sunglasses #longhair #prettygirls #QueenStatus #TheQueenSessions (at Open Space)

A hot topic amongst the sports community has been whether or not trash talking belongs in sports. Some argue that it does not belong, while on the other hand some believe that competitive talking between competitors promotes a better product and experience for the viewer. Trash talking has long been in sports and seems to have an almost permanent spot in competition. The argument itself seems to be very interesting with both sides having very good reason.
Leagues have decided to take a step back when it comes to punishing players who do the trash talking, often being in favor of the competition that may result from two players going at it. These confrontations often go viral and draw more attention to the games. Ultimately, this is the result the league’s want their product to have. Fans in favor of trash talk often look back to the past of their favorite sports and compare it to its current state. This is also true for long time followers of the National Basketball Association, who have seen the toughest era of basketball of the 1990’s. For example, basketball superstars were trash talking and it, in a sense became part of their personality throughout the league. The likes of Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Gary Payton, Isiah Thomas , and others made trash talk a part of the game. The trash talk made for exciting, fun to watch games.
Understandably so, no league wants to promote violence in their sport, or give off any impression that it is welcomed. People believe that most confrontations that result into physical altercations may originate within a competitive trash talking atmosphere. Most sports leagues have a zero tolerance for fighting and players are often given strict punishment if they take part in such actions. People believe that now you should be punished for trash talking period, in order to avoid any confrontations that may turn physical, and eliminate trash talking completely from the sports.
Whichever side of the argument you are on, it is definitely an interesting one to have. Take a look back at trash talking in different sports and see what side you fall into. Leave us a comment with your thoughts.
My Puerto Rican mother is a retired hair beautician, which meant my hair was always well taken care of. Every couple of months my ends were cut to allow growth. I’ve had all the treatments you can think of put into my hair so it could shine and be glamorous. With all of that I still ended up being a ponytail girl, but even so my hair connects me to my mother. She always would tell me my hair was a gift from God, that there was strength in my hair.
As you can see I have this connection with the hair on my head, but what about rest of my body? Mmm, not so much. Well I have grown a new kind of love for my body hair in my journey of self-discovery. To have hair other than on my head is something new, something unknown and a bit difficult to deal with.
In the Hispanic culture grooming, up keeping, and looking to a certain beauty standard aka perfect-looking is expected and that should help you understand why, when I wore a sleeveless flannel top, my father looked at me with such discuss on his face “why haven’t you shaved?” But without missing a beat I responded “because it’s my body and I don’t believe I need to mutilate my body for society’s beauty standard.” At that point I hadn’t thought about why I was letting my hair grow, I just knew I wanted to, so I was surprised with my own quick response. My father didn’t say anything else after that.
He didn’t understand what feminism had to do with body hair, and some may argue that it has no connection. But when you live in a household and society where men make the rules and as women you abide by it when it makes for all the connections. I should and do have a say with what I do with my body, the body that has been given to me. I get to say when and how I grow my hair out.
Giving myself the chance to grow out my hair gave me a perturbed understanding of myself. I enjoyed the process of reaching length to my hair, but in the end I preferred to not have body hair. I didn’t feel any less with it, I just felt pleasant without it. It had nothing to do with how I looked and everything to do with how I felt.
