***I've updated this list to reflect the current theme that is on my blog atm.***

My goal is to provide a few themes in a light base and a dark base. From there monochrome or multicolor color ways. I will offer a handful of free themes & I may offer some for $10 or so that will come with custom banners/backgrounds/dividers etc in the classic preppy style. Meta tags for user upload/user choice (background, sidebar image, sidebar hover image, SoundCloud ID etc)

Drop down on hover about + Loves

Sidebar image changes on hover

Bold cycling/text styling for sidebar and entry on perma & index in each color way

Links color way cycling per link in notes on perma

Monochrome options

Multicolor options

Gradient on perma

2 cursors per color way

Matching favicons per colorway

Grunge overlay on hover

Studded divider between posts for both single column and 2 column

Pop up ask

Scrolling notes on perma

Scroll long text posts on perma

Scroll vertical or horizontal photosets depending on column selection

* I tried to do away with masonry but unless the css is suuuuuper specific, I can’t utilize the column trick and ditch masonry for every theme 😞..

** I am re-doing the 3 column theme. I do not like how the text appears in the post area. I wanted so badly for it to be all one size posts but that does not look good at all with text based posts. I will offer a few more with a similar navigation style but they'll be more on the simple side vs colorful/girly. I have about 3-4 styles for this in mind but it takes a while to make them.

It's all g I think I know what I have to do. But I'll have to do it for all my "fuck yeah" Tumblrs (that big group of broken images after the text links) and all their link pages. And once ready copy paste the theme html code into Google Docs and Find and Replace all the http links with https, then copy paste back into Tumblr theme code box. Thanks Tumblr for breaking theme coding and forcing that extra step on us lol (I will explain what I mean next post)

Also LOL my Lookbook is linked, does anyone still use that? That's so 2010 era (sadly)

Basic tips for a viewer friendly blog on desktop

To put it short: pick a suiting theme for people to be able to read!

⯈ Things you should have: Readable text of a good size (12px+). Visible and easy to find links. At least a basic ‘about this blog’ section. Posts separated decently (not all squished up). Clear pagination.

⯈ Things not to have: Randomly dotted links or hidden links. Lower than 11px text. Too many gifs. X colour on X colour text/background; no light pink text on a red background for instance. Too much clutter. Small post types (200px). A chaotic background that distracts heavily from the posts.

⯈ Tips:

Aesthetics and minimalism aren’t always good! People need to be able to read things easy enough to enjoy your blog. Having a tiny theme with hard to find links or even a bright aesthetics can put somebody straight off.

Ensure the word spacing and fonts aren’t over the top. Spaced out letters and words make reading hard for lots of people. ‘Fancy’ fonts can also be hard to read. Also try to keep the same font all around unless for a title or the likes. Nothing worse than trying to read a bunch of different fonts when they’re different for bold, underline etc.

Pick a good colour theme. Nothing too white, bright, dark, or flashy works best. A bright white background with gray text isn’t nice to try and read.

Endless scrolling makes it hard for people to try and find specific posts again so try ensure the theme has pages and a pagination.

Have a pinned post with links to your pages for mobile users or a mobile navigation link in your description. This way people can navigate things if on mobile and the pages aren’t showing up normally.

Remember that some people have a smaller resolution on their monitor so it’s always best to check that the theme you install will resize. The way I do it is to shrink the browser window and see if the theme moves or not.

Billy music player & SCM player??

for some reason everytime i try to put the code under the <body> tag, it won’t show up ;;

and if i manage to make the billy music player come up, it doesnt autoplay and its in a grey box?

I may make a green version of this theme but idk yet 🫣 it takes min to get everything switched.

I do however plan to have a green color scheme/color way on the next theme. The next theme will have a left side sidebar and be 1-2 columns. The one live on my blog right now can be 1-3 columns. I did away with masonry so it loads a bit funky now but overall it seems much faster & infinite scroll crashes less thus far. It’s more stable because it utilizes a grid theme in the .css 🫶🏻.
