MOGAI ABCs event let's go. Event's from @dragonpride17. We're real zombie-ish today mood-wise so not gonna be top-tier but I wanna ramble anyway
Alterhumanity - are you alterhuman? how does this affect your life and identity?
Yeah we&'re alterhuman. We're bodily nonhuman in that we are a cheetah. And I mean that literally, physically. Cheetah endelic holothere; sometimes we can recognise it as delusion, and other times we can't. As a polyplex overall we're a cat therian also
We get a good chunk of distress from being referred to as human, cause it's just not true. We get distress from not seeing the body match what we expect
There's an interesting intersection in our experiences of being nonhuman and a Jew of colour also. I'm not right now really sure how to articulate it... something about how our peoples have to fight so hard just to be treated as human, and yet we& still just. Aren't human. At times we get this anxiety that we're opening gates to racists to dehumanize us without us having anything really we can say... I guess part of it is that personhood is equated with humanity, and for us& to insist on the fact of our nonhumanity is read as also denial of our own personhood. We get uncomfortable with how frequently alterhuman spaces too push this sort of thing, equating 'person' with 'human', it ends up being one of those subtle, oh yeah this place is white reminders in a way I'm failing to figure out how to articulate. I guess one way of putting it is, it feels like, oh, the folks who push that idea often seem to not have had to personally encounter that thing before of having their personhood denied on such a wide-reaching and systemic level... it's easier to turn down humanity when you're in a position to actually accept it without people batting an eye. So we& get in this regular internal struggle of knowing we can't advocate for our& own nonhumanity without it being seen as some 'proof' that our peoples really aren't human (and thus really aren't persons). Idk! It sucks and I don't know how to explain it to people who don't already get it, not right now anyway
