A neogender umbrella related to watching and being watched, paranoia, eyes, the need to know everything despite the risks, the need to collect and store information even to one's own detriment, and The Beholding from The Magnus Archives!

Additionally, occunous is connected to/related to eye imagery, surveillance & security cameras, the fear of being judged, the feeling of being watched even if one isn't, existing with fear for so long that it eventually becomes comforting, and a disconnect from humanity. It may also be related to psychosis & delusions of being watched, nonhumanity, academia, religious trauma, self-policing one's own actions, and anxiety.

This is not a xenogender. While genders may be under both xenogender and occunous, occunous is not inherently xenic. While occunous is typically used for genders, any sort of identity may fall under occunous.

Occu- comes from eye, and -nous comes from the etymology of paranoia, and means 'mind'. Overall, it's meant to be evocative of looking into someone's thoughts and selfhood.

We used the E flag template from @neopronouns as a base for this flag, as we're not very skilled at flagmaking.

this is a very personal term to me, drawing from both TMA as well as delusions and psychosis we've experienced for years. i'm very excited to see what people coin under it!!
