Just say it’s bad! 😂 Sometimes I am too nice. To be honest, The Lucky One was basically just a glorified Hallmark movie (most Nicholas Sparks). Water For Elephants was missing some chemistry, that I was honest about. Although I have to say, I am not a Robert Pattinson fan.

Stand Up And Cheer! was released into theaters 85 years ago, today! The title for this film is often mistakenly thought to be Baby, Take a Bow, do to the popularity of the number performed by James Dunn and Shirley Temple. The number premiered Shirley as a feature film actress as well as a premier of her little red polka dot dress. The dress, interestingly enough, was actually Shirley’s own, as her mother thought she’d be more comfortable in her own clothing. I digress, the title is Stand Up And Cheer!, and the film follows newly appointed ‘Secretary of Amusement,’ Lawrence Cromwell, as he sends an army of entertainers out across the country, to cheer up the country in the mists of the Great Depression. One such act is Jimmy & Shirley Dugan, father and daughter entertainers.

🥳 Happy birthday Jennifer Garner 🥳

Birthday shout out to Jennifer Garner, who turns 47 today. Garner is best know for her work heading up the spy-thriller television series, Alias. As well as her work in such films as, 13 Going On 30, Daredevil, Juno, Dallas Buyers Club, Love Simon & Peppermint. Jennifer is a dedicated actress, who trains extensively for her action roles, so she will be able to perform as many of her own stunts as possible. More recently Garner has a role in the animated movie, Wonder Park. She is also currently in pre-production for the film Yes Day, which follows a family in which the parents have decided to say yes to all of their kids requests, for one whole day. The actress is also active on social media, posting regular cooking videos she titles “Pretend Cooking Show.”

Trailer for this black and white classic drama

Grand Hotel premiered in theaters across the United States, this day, in 1932. The film follows a group of very different individuals staying at a luxurious hotel in Berlin. This is one of the early ensemble cast films, similar to Sin City or Pulp Fiction. A wonderful and interesting film, that I highly recommend.

Greta Garbo is Grusinskaya, a Russian ballerina, whose career is on the downswing. She is contemplating ending it all when she is interrupted.

John Barrymore is Baron Felix von Geigern, once wealthy, the Baron has since squandered his fortune and now supports himself as a card player and a jewelry thief.

Joan Crawford is Flaemmchen, the stenographer

hired by Preysing to help close the big deal

Wallace Beery is General Director Preysing, Kringelein's former employer, an industrialist at the hotel to close a big deal.

Lionel Barrymore is Otto Kringelein, a dying accountant who has decided to spend his remaining days in the lap of luxury.

Lewis Stone is Dr. Otternschlag, a disfigured WWI veteran and a permanent resident of the hotel.
