Recently watched Scavengers Reign (and highly recommend you do too) and I'm kind of obsessed with that scene of post-transformation Levi "giving birth", like…
The concept of robot/cyborg pregnancy has always been interesting to me for Reasons, and now I can't stop thinking abt a possible storyline where Levi finds out that the slime mould inside their body got them "pregnant" for the first time and confiding to Azi and the other survivors abt it. My thoughts so far:
While it did cross Levi's mind that procreation might be possible now that they're partially organic, their pregnancy isn't "planned" per say, as they didn't expect it to actually happen. Nevertheless, they find themselves pleasantly surprised by it, as with all the other new strange and wonderful sensations that came with their merging to the planet
Because of the mycelial network between them and the blooms, Levi can feel the plant clone foetus as if it was actually inside their body, and often spends hours just sitting and musing over themselves and their developing baby
Since it's their first time, they're not sure what's normal for pregnancy – even considering the unusual nature of theirs – so Ursula, being a mother who gave birth herself and a botanist to boot, tries her best to counsel Levi through each new development (although this is a bittersweet affair, as it dredges up some grief regarding Ursula's own child and whether she'll ever make it off the planet to see her again)
Also unexpectedly, Levi's gestation period ends up being mere weeks rather than months, so their symptoms progress rapidly, and one day, while helping the colonists at the wreck of the Demeter, they find themselves going into "labour", with all the uncertainty and pain associated with it
They instinctively know that they need to uproot one of the flowers to extract the clone, so Azi carries them to their garden and Ursula accompanies them in order to continue providing support
Everything goes well and the baby is healthy, and Levi collapses in exhaustion while gently cradling the tiny plant robot. As strange as the situation is, the human colonists are overjoyed to celebrate the first "birth" on their new planet
While everyone assumes this is an exceptional situation, Levi seems confident that this is only the start, as they want many more children…which turns out to be true, as only a few months later, Levi announces that they're "pregnant" again, this time with multiple blooms
Still working on other writing projects, but hopefully I'll have time to write this one down too…maybe people with similar Interests to me would be interested?
