I'm sorry if the commenter comes over here and sees this, I don't mean it harshly, but I'm cackling. I got a comment on SofA that Frey is a Mary Sue, citing that she's bad at things, and, I restrained myself and only replied that we had different definitions, but. My guy. I've got several thousand comments saying she's not, so I'm comfy and confident.

A Mary Sue, the original recipe I grew up with, is the girl who shows up in canon and is sweet and nice and even if there's a little hiccup at the beginning everyone still sees her as a romantic interest immediately, but very quickly - like, 2 chapters - she's beloved and after everyone notices that she isn't Like Other Girls(tm) she turns out to be great at everything and everyone thinks she's beautiful and wants to date her, she saves the day, and everyone's expectation that she's just a little girl are proven wrong, and she's the coolest, specialist, nicest, humblest, prettiest person ever. That's what I grew up with. YMMV

Frey does get to a point where they all think she's important it takes 120k words, but even at the peak of it, they also think she's an idiot. They're correct.
