.The 1914 style (????) looking uniforms at Toulon really throw me every time. Side note the hats the students wear do look cheap and weird, whoever posted that on Tumblr was right.. Although I pref Toulon this time tbh it's so full it's like ants or something

.Overall some good ass lyrics that I definitely won't remember god I wish I could buy the lyrics/sheet music etc and analyse them the way I am e.g. allowed to buy hamlet. something from JVj about the Gesetz and weh dem, der einmal fällt or something, can't remember but it was banging

.Also overall production vibe feels a bit less ? Ott than last time? Fantine not so furious, Cosette less dorky etc. Overall stuff where I'm like ? have they changed that since ast time or was I hallucinating last time or this time or something. Might also just be a product of not being able to see HALF THE STAGE good lord

.I do like this enjolras though I don't really know why?? Very recognisable BC of beard, feels like he's in pretty much every scene

.Everyone seeing at once during morgen schon you can't make out a fucking thing good lord. Felt like they just muted Javert during confrontation which like a choice but at least it meant JVJ understandable and coherent.

.Weirdly Javert's old man stage makeup works really well under the regular lights for bows but all the way through the play it (at least for me) doesn't work at all & he just looks like an extremely tired 30 year old

.Thenadiers this time couldn't understand ANYTHING they said in the last bit at the table which is a shame BC it was probably funny but was really like muttering muttering muttering in der Hölle sind noch Plätze frei

.Javert like my main criticism is too young looking and the wigs ain't shit compared to west end which I genuinely find absolutely beautiful c.f. also how obsessed I am with the Blackbeard wig in ofmd & particularly in that scene where he's underwater HOWEVER I will say damn, great stunt work/falls across the stage, both when caught by the students & especially during the confrontation (there was a forward roll???) & ,when he got up it was clear he was supposed to have a shoulder injury whereas I feel like in London it's just like guess what JVJ shoves really hard ? Idk maybe that's unfair.

.It does however bring me to my next point which is this time round I actually really liked the barricade. Seeing it half built in one scene then complete in the next, the way they can use the ends as well BC of the rotating stage, and the fact that at least compared to my memory of London there are loads of women there and the constant passing of the rifles makes it seem more coherent and real somehow and also the actually individual deaths from very obviously different injuries depending on where they were on the barricade is really good I think. Also having the students up top in this bright lighting and all in white shirts and light coloured waistcoats really works, especially w the comparison to empty chairs when they've all got blood on them

.Also having gavroche be the only other one on the barricade moving during little fall of rain when the others are all frozen absolutely brilliant. Really clear that there's a relationship between him and Eponine.

.Overall a few scenes in this where people freeze which I don't really remember in london.I did like the electric guitar bits tbh

.Overall I feel like maybe the sound system in the theatre is just not as good as in London which would make sense I guess bc I don't think they just do musicals (wir sind hier nicht im Opernhaus) because both times the instrumental and vocal sounded really kind of flat and artificial to me even though like this time I could peer into the orchestra and I could see the people playing violin but somehow it still sounded really recorded idk,

.I feel like Javert didn't get beaten up as much this time but might be imagining it. I felt like the fall was better though

.I still miss the clothes/wigs/makeup from London I think it supports the narrative and the character SO WELL and I miss it

. Why the change from möchte to will in "ich bin der Bürgermeister hier und möchte/will es gern noch länger sein" Möchte is definitely what I remember from German recording on Spotify (not the wien one) I find it more believable than "ich will es gerne noch länger sein" BC like he doesn't ??

.I'm losing my fucking mind re: the lack of availability for the German song texts being available to buy in any context at all. Like i am being so fr, like trying to piece something together from what i remember last night when almost all results onlien are either shitty machine translations or badly transcribed versions of parts of the lyrics AND and I think im getting somewhere with chatgpt andd then it keeps changing which ahcaracter allegedly sung the lyrics and then cant link a source AND THEN i'm like FUCJ these cant be the actual lyrics must be soem kind of chatgpt transaltion attempt to answer because THE PRONOUNS ARE WRONG. according to fucking chatgpt they are saying "Sie" to each other all the way through the confrontation even tho almost no-one says "Sie" all the way through AND it is very noticable e.g. that in the end when JVJ sets him free that he is STILL saying "ihr" to Javert the whole time when Javert is saying "du" to him and its like HMM MM maybe its ??? important? relevan? the way the characers speak to each otjher? The way Javert calls him by a number and not his name? Anyway in conclusion it just makes me think THE MACHINES ARE MAKING EVEYTHING WORSe and centuries of human creativity and artistic endavous is just getting FUCKING CRUSHED under stupid bastard AI just makign everythign shittier and I hate it.

During Herr im Haus the way she says "denke wäre gut im Bett bloß ich merke es nie" combined w the line about "an die Wäsche gehen" makes it seem like thenadier is just banging people who aren't his wife whereas I feel like the English version does make it clear he's just not good in bed

I just treated myself to a sketchbook and a ton of alcohol markers so I've been doodling the apollocomic crew (which I'll post when there's good light tomorrow) and I wasn't the happiest with this eponine so I'll try drawing her again but she's still cute so thought I'd post anyway ✨️
