Taylor Swift was a name that I said when I talked about this amazing singer, songwriter, poet and philanthropist. This was two years ago. Back then, the currently 25 year old was just a name on tabloids, a face on the computer screens. I knew everything about her, yet I didn't know her. But that's how it worked, right? I mean, this was a country-pop legend we were talking about. I was so absurdly, unequivocally, insanely WRONG.
When 2014 rolled around, hell broke loose. Taylor Swift was now on Tumblr. She was reblogging posts, liking some, hell, even FOLLOWING people who identified as fans. Come Christmas, she was sending fans presents. Humongous, 15 pound FedEx boxes full of gifts she handpicked herself. She was trying to connect. As the year came towards an end, her kindness and want to reach out only heightened. Now when I think of Taylor Swift, I don't think of a 7-time Grammy winning, thousand miles away, extremely popular artist. But I think of my smart, witty, funny, gorgeous and insanely talented best friend, Taylor. Sometimes she makes it really easy to forget that this is the same girl who's toured the whole world and sang to thousands of people, all of whom have sung back.
Thank you, Taylor, for making me feel like a buddy. Like you were someone I could turn to when I was overwhelmed, joyful, down or plain me. Because I know that whatever it is, you'll always be there for me, and I can't thank you enough for that.
