Is Christ God? If you are a Christian, the answer is 100% yes and this is not up for debate. Is Christ human? If you are a Christian, the answer is 100% yes and this is not up for debate. Then when you commune with Christ by taking him bodily into your embodied form via the Eucharist — whether physically, spiritually, or metaphorically — you are committing an act of both theophagy, the eating of god, and cannibalism, the eating of human flesh. In fact, most specifically it is theophagy by means of cannibalism. It is because of the humanity of Christ that we are able to eat God; it is because of the divinity of Christ that we are able to eat man.
