Okay so it’s finally finished. My theory of the way to survive in the digital circus !

First off, Goose (whether lying or not) said that the message you could take away from the circus is being happy in a stagnant life. And I think it’s not deeper than that, I think that’s exactly it, i think you could think about it deeper but I don’t think it is:

First off I think Kinger is 100% with out a SHRED of doubt safe from abstraction, and maybe will be the only one to “survive” the circus BECAUSE he has fully and utterly embraced the life the circus provides. While being in the dark gives him moments of clarity and a human feel, it’s because it is the exact opposite of circus itself, it’s debatable weather he does this consciously or unconsciously but think of it like an off and on switch that is triggered by total darkness.

I also don’t think there is an actual exit, possibly abstraction but that’s a different theory for a different day.

Anyways my theory is, if you embrace the circus and all the wackiness it brings, you will thrive. I don’t think that you have to totally reject humanity itself but I think you have to reject the concept of temporary. This IS your life, so live it. Whether you like it or not. Embrace the absurdity and you will exceed. I also think that’s why sometimes the circus is able to do certain things at certain times.

My evidence!

In episode 6 Jax tells Pomni to stop holding the gun realistically, and to just let loose and actually have fun, the pain is temporary but they can’t actually die. So when Pomni does this she is able to relax and shoot the can pretty easily. Because she trusted Jax’s words and it worked. Because she believed it would. When she shoots Zooble she takes a deep breath, and wills the bullet to shoot Zooble and it does, because she willed it. When Zooble in episode 5 was made at Bazooble they struck the ball into them, whether it was on purpose out of malice or not, doesn’t matter because they *wanted* to hurt Bazooble.

When Ragatha goes to shoot Jax in episode 6 she doesn’t actually want to shoot him so she gets the dud, when she plugs the gun up because she wants to stop him from shooting her and it blows back and hits Jax, it’s because she wanted it to, maliciously or not she dictated mentally weather or not it would work.

The guns need to be reloaded, obviously, but it seems to happen randomly, and weirdly, almost like they want to reload at certain points I think evidence of that is Kinger firing off too many shots for an actual revolver then reloading it in the dark with the lighter, then Jax and Pomni running out of bullets chasing Zooble and Gangle. We never actually see Pomni reload her own gun until she says she has one sniper shot, because she does only have exactly one sniper shot, and that’s all she uses from the sniper itself, yes Zooble used it earlier but she could have just BELIEVED she had another shot but facing off against gangle was a genuine draw because if she took too long she would have lost and gangle would have shot her. But she wanted to shoot gangle so she did.

Another point is the butterfly for Ragatha that Kinger makes and when she asks if Caine mentioned it / where he got it he says he made it up. Because he literally did. He wanted to give Ragatha an extra life because she lost one before the game even started and it wasn’t fair and Kinger knows that, so he literally willed it into existence. Regardless of whether you think Kinger is Abel or not, it does not go deeper than that, he genuinely believed in giving Ragatha a life, so it worked because Kinger of all the people in the circus actually embrace the idea of the absurd and wacky to be able to control aspects of the circus.

There isn’t a ton evidence of this in the first few episodes: but I think episode 3 is where this starts to really show itself, because Kinger and Pomni are trapped in Literal Hell and they want to leave so they believe holding their breath is the key, and it works because. They wanted it to.

I think in episode 4 we don’t get any true moment like this, and this may be a stretch even for me, but Jax believes the clock is moving slow and Gangle confirms that yeah that clock is wrong, her watch isn’t. It’s cause Jax believed it and it manifested itself literally, Gangle as a manager probably knows mentally how long a work shift is and her internal clock is probably better than Jax’s who probably either hates work, or didn’t want to play along to the adventure.

My biggest piece of evidence is in episode 5 when they can call a vote on something to change.

Zooble made Jax a vegan, everyone agreed, so it happened. Jax also got drunk, and no one else did, they all believed they were drinking alcohol due to the setting and Zooble, so it worked like real alcohol.

The maid dress, the same, the voting to skip adventures was Caine’s idea but it’s still PART of the if you believe it, it will happen.

I don’t know if they can escape the actual circus itself, but I do think they are meant to enjoy and thrive within the circus but their humanity stops them from that.

What if, though, it’s not just feeding on them? What if all the rituals for the Smirke-era 14 Fears could double as Extinction rituals?

“Uncanny Valley” was the first episode to suggest that a given ritual (the Unknowing) could bring along other Entities on the side (the Desolation along with the Stranger). And some combinations do seem to make sense: Buried with Dark or Web, for instance, or Desolation + Slaughter. Others not so much, and some are established antitheses like Buried/Vast or Eye/Dark.

But every ritual remakes the world into something new and horrifying. Every ritual threatens the end of the human species, just some are more direct than others. How long would life on Earth last in the face of endless Dark, or global Slaughter, or a 24/7 Spiral freak-out? Or rather, what kind of life would survive in that world?

So beyond the concern that the Extinction would just straight-up wipe out their food source, the Powers (or at least their cultists/avatars) may have reason to worry that any ascension ritual would bring Extinction along for the ride, and at least encourage if not ensure that humanity wouldn’t last long in the brave new world they’d made. And, as the last could of Desolation statements have reminded us, avatars don’t just get to not pursue their patron’s ascension, even if they have to make it up as they go.

Which then makes me think about the Watcher’s Crown, and Elias’s “complicated relationship with the apocalypse.” Initially I assumed that, since the Archivist needs his merit badges from all the other fears, Elias was just waiting until he could throw Jon at the problem. But the Beholding already feeds second-hand off the fear created by other entities: even the woman Jon attacked had her fear of the Buried compounded, rather than replaced, by the fear of being watched.

So what if the Watcher’s Crown is the only ritual that, by design, brings other Entities through into the world? What if it brings them all through? Smirke and Magnus built Millbank Prison based on Bentham’s Panopticon -- the idea that being under (the illusion of) constant surveillance would force prisoners to be on best behavior at all times. What if the Watcher’s Crown gives the Beholding (and/or its avatars) the ability to control all the other entities, so it can reap the benefits of a world of fear it doesn’t have to create?

Elias isn’t a climate change denier, in other words, he’s one of those asshole capitalists who sees a way to exploit it for a profit. And Peter’s not just keeping Jon out of the loop because Jon’s a disaster -- he may know that Lonely and Extinction are the last two tick marks on Elias’s list.

So a bit ago I came upon a post that commented about how someone realized that the Kaiju were a motif for hurricanes. Thus the lore enthusiast in me wanted to expand a little more on what people noticed 1. The Quote: “There are things you can't fight - acts of God. You see a hurricane coming, you get out of the way. But when you're in a Jaeger, suddenly you can finally fight the hurricane. You can win.” By this point, we probably all know it off by heart. And naturally not much needs to be explained with this one- the reference is quite clear in associating Kaiju with hurricanes. In a Jaeger you can fight against the hurricane/Kaiju when before them, there was no sense of hope with it causing destruction as it traversed across cities. 2. The Category system: We see in the first movie that the Kaiju are categorized into five levels, which parallels how hurricanes are defined by the Saffir–Simpson hurricane wind scale (which also works from 1 to 5, the higher the level the more dangerous it is). Similar happens with Cyclones (at least in Australia) as they categorized by the Tropical Cyclone Category System where it too is put on a 1 to 5 scale.

3. The Wall: This I don’t think I have seen anyone point out but well it clicked for me. Particularly because I remember hearing something VERY similar before. For an example let’s look at the case of Sydney and Mutavore. Mutavore breaks through a wall and screams home how such an idea was doomed to fail. This at least to my opinion, echos eerily to Hurricane Katrina. Levees and flood walls were made to hold back the water and protect areas such as New Orleans. The impact which Katrina then held in destroying those was similar in the way that Pacific Rim depicts with Mutavore destroying the Wall of Life, panic and resentment with those who build those ideas.

4. Location and countries/regions affected The fact that the Kaiju attacks occur in the Pacific Ocean in a way echoes how tropical storms do occur in that region, and the countries and regions affected are ones typically affected by those storms. North and South America deal with Hurricanes, China, Japan and Korea (Russia has also by brief searching too but only occasionally maybe???) deal with Typhoons, and Australia has dealt with Cyclones.

L theory incoming (?) + my reblog policy

Currently cooking up an L analysis essay. Deconstructing my former favourite is not easy, but hey, I guess I find it enjoyable to do (I might be a little masochistic tbh 😅).

Of course after 20+ years what more is there to say......but despite the great theories I have read about L I feel there's is something missing. Actually, a whole bunch of somethings I've noticed long ago. But this essay actually might be a long one so might be a minute b4 I can present it.

A note on the 'lack' of reblog function on my blog:

So here's the thing: I actually do not care if it gets less visibility. It's nice when people vibe with what I vibe with, but I'm a theorist/analyser for fun only. 100% egotistical venture.

I write truly for the game - and to unravel things I think needs unravelling. It's a personal hobby of mine, which I share with others.

If someone wants to read it so be it. And if they get annoyed they can't pin it on their own blog then they can keep it moving.

There's a lot of former essays for a certain fandom I wrote whose creator and fandom I really don't like anymore. I don't regret writing the theories, it was super fun - HOWEVER I wish I had the option to remove it from the internet entirely because once I'm done I'm truly done. And tbh it takes a lot for me to be done with something so you can tell how much both pissed me off to want nothing to do with either anymore.

Reblogs however makes that impossible which is why I decided to restrict all future reblogs just in case.

So yeah, I purposely made this decision because I am not the one who likes to be permanently affixed to anything. I'm not really a 'fandom' person to begin with. I just really like analysing things and people. Not much else to it.

Also people change. One part of my life I might be super into one corner of the internet. And another part I might hate that side of me. The option to withdraw should be present.

I'm not a central part to any fandom anyways, I just like making exciting theories. But the removal of my presence isn't going to end any fandom. So the removal of reblogs has similarly zero effects.

So just know I am anti-reblog on this page. And consistently unreliable. At the very least I am clear about who I am from the jump.

A Gensokyo Headcanon i've always had

Common knowledge is that Gensokyo is locked smack-dab within Japan, sealed away within a Pocket Universe, running side by side our Universe/The Outside World's universe at the exact same time. This is proven by such things as the location of Youkai Mountain, where we can triangulate the rough position of Gensokyo.

My headcanon is that, at Gensokyo's initial conception, it was only as large as where Youkai Mountain ended, far-side wise. However, Gensokyo never ended there. Note the "was" i said earlier. My theory is that Gensokyo is very much similar in concept to "Voile, the Magic Library" - as in, they both play on the trope Bigger On The Inside. Gensokyo, however, is the ultimate and final version of the Trope. Being a Pocket Universe, sealed away, it can expand indefinitely into forecer. Does it account for Earth landmasses and appropriates them accordingly? Who knows, my theory is that the only part of Gensokyo taht resembles Japan is Gensokyo-Prime (The area of Gensokyo that was created when it was first sealed in the Hakurei Border), everything else is newly generated lands.

That being said, I think it's perfectly reasonable for Gensokyo to have areas such as seas and oceans, but they just haven't been discovered yet because the areas beyond Gensokyo Prime are uninhabited (or inhabited by more dangerous Youkai).

So I was watching Clannad yesterday. First episode. I forgot that Okazaki's mom died in a car accident. And Fuko died in a car accident. Maybe that's why he's so attached to her.

Maybe I'm just stating the obvious...
