    The building ought to have been empty. It ought to have been straightforward, and it was-- Victor got in easily, completed his task with perfect ease, and was on his way back towards the exit --up until the point that footsteps sounded where there should have been none, Victor picking up on them from a way down the corridor. He froze, just for a moment, before slipping carefully into the darkness of an empty doorway as he waited for the newcomer to come close enough for him to see them clearly.

    The person before him was quite certainly not who he had been expecting. She didn’t look like a threat, but Victor knew damn well that that didn’t mean a thing in a situation like that. He stepped neatly out, his hand on his gun but not yet drawn, and spoke with an ever so deliberate evenness that overlaid quiet tension.

    “You’re not supposed to be here, kid.”
