I’m so glad you asked for this one! I overuse the word “soft” so it’s all over the place, but I think the one people will most want to see is an excerpt from Chapter 14 of TVOTE:

Future excerpt from The Valley of the End:

Sakura. He doesn't mean to think of her, but she haunts him in quiet moments anyway.

That night, after his duties have been shelved--meetings done, letters written, overseeing projects complete for the day--he lies in bed alone, remembering. Sakura's smile as she teased him. The taste of her lips after a sip of sake. How deep the green of her eyes could turn in moonlight.

The tears streaming down her soot-streaked face as she told him she'd done everything she could to save his mother.

Sakura is so many things to him. His teammate, who stitched together his broken body on a mission to Whirlpool once upon a time. The rebel who helped tear down his home and his family. The liar who collected his secrets like seashells on a shore, then handed them over. The lover he wants to hate, but he can only manage it in fits and starts.

Sasuke falls into a restless sleep colored by soft cherry blossom hair and red fire, the scents of burning bodies and vanilla in the air, the taste of a girl's kiss and then ashes on his tongue.

He jerks awake, heart racing. He wants to set aside the Hokage's robe and run far from this place. To strangle Haruno Sakura with his bare hands, then kiss her as she gasps for breath. To find the rebels and slaughter them one by one, starting with Minato. And Itachi too. He hasn't forgotten his wayward brother. 

He wants to avenge his family and his village, but he has so many enemies that he doesn't know where to start.

Reylo. I logged way more words on Reylo fics than I did either Stucky or SasuSaku, and with The Rise of Skywalker coming out in six (!!!) days I am a Star Wars at this point.

Oh God. Oh God, I have to go to AO3 and count… 

So, out of published fics that I’m still writing on and have not tabled--even the ones that haven’t been updated in an obscene amount of time:

Reylo: 3 (possibly 4, because there’s one that I may not table if inspiration strikes)

Stucky: 2

SasuSaku: 2 (possibly 3, for the same reasons as for Reylo)

I have… more--okay, a LOT more--that I’ve written, which I haven’t started posting, because I would like to complete them before publishing. But counting those too would just depress me lmao

27) favorite fanfic author of the year

Oof, this one’s hard. I’m gonna have to cheat and split it up by fandom.

For Star Wars, it’s DEFINITELY destinies aka @destiniesfic. Their Reylo story Tactical Surrender is the best Reylo fic I’ve read in years, and it owns my entire ass. It’s 156k words long, and I read it in two days. destinies’s Kylo and Rey are so engaging and complex that I couldn’t put the story down, and it honestly made me think about their characters in new ways. As a bonus, the tropes employed are right up my alley. If TROS is half as interesting as Tactical Surrender, I will be absolutely thrilled.

For Game of Thrones & A Song of Ice and Fire, I’ve got to go with nymja aka @gizkasparadise. Her fic the fury is amazing. I’m only a casual Gendrya fan--I like the ship, but I’m not super invested--but the fury is so damn good that I read each new chapter immediately when I get the update notification. Plus, Sandor Clegane is my favorite non-POV character in canon, and the fury reads like nymja has got a degree in the study of his show-verse personality. A++ canon-divergent story that I recommend to literally any got/asoiaf fan, regardless of your shipping preferences. 

For Good Omens, dollsome. Their Ineffable Husbands fic i’d like for you and i to go romancing is one of the most charming stories I’ve ever read, across all my fandoms. They’ve also written got/asoiaf and The Handmaid’s Tale fic that I loved. Basically, I would read anything they wrote, if I’m even remotely familiar with the fandom.

I’m gonna do an entire tour when I get home because I basically collect books based on #aesthetic but for now I’m just gonna highlight this Folio Society edition of The Bloody Chamber which I had to track down on abebooks and then murder a person to acquire

12. What author, dead or alive, would you like to have a conversation with?

my dude margaret atwood probably. unless I’m allowed to interrogate shakespeare about Love’s Labour’s Won in which case absolutely that

19. How many books are currently on your to be read list?

I don’t really have an official TBR, but I have 3 unread purchased books in my house and I’m 5/7 in the list of holds for another one at the library, so I guess 4.

25. What are your favorite book editions that you own?

^ see above. plus an incredibly beautiful copy of Oscar Wilde’s Salome (pics later) and this gorgeous edition of Susanna Clarke’s The Ladies of Grace Adieu
