meet jesse saint-georges. half egyptian, half french and definitely not 100% himself.
jesse was put up for adoption at a young age; his parents could never understand him and the way he muttered to himself and was very strange in public and would literally fear socialising. he was a problem child in many people's eyes.
then we move to his coping mechanism. teddy. jesse imagined a friend who looked completely identical to himself and, sadly, teddy was his only friend. he helped jesse through the process of adoption and "settling" into his new family home when he was a youngster, however the "help" became very... useless after a while.
teddy gradually began to get naughtier and nastier and no matter how much jesse regretted the decision to create him, he could never shake teddy off. he was constantly there, walking by his side, putting him down, bullying him into doing and saying stupid stuff and often times embarrassing jesse by pushing his buttons to the point of retaliation; shouting at himself in public and scurrying off to hide inside a public restroom in a nearby cafe.
unfortunately, jesse's well-thought-out plan of escaping to greece to bag a job at a veterinary practice didn't exactly go to plan. teddy still didn't leave his side. he still struggles daily with keeping quiet and not absolutely going ape-shit at teddy and a lot of people to tend to think he's a little weird; very awkward and shy and very quiet... but a lot of other people tend to think that's attractive; the mysterious jesse saint-georges.

originally from chicago. his family is like rich Rich. beyoncé kinda rich. it’s ridiculous.
his parents aren’t really bad people, they’re just very absent. leaving gabriel and his younger sister natalie to their own devices while growing up.
gabe took care of his sister and was actually responsible for her. picking her up from school, making sure she did her homework, keeping her fed and driving her to her extra curriculars. nat was the apple of gabe’s eyes like, he truly loved his little sister.
however, a year or so ago gabe & nat were involved in a car accident, leaving gabriel in the hospital for a month but killing nat instantly. so you can tell that after he woke up and found out that bit of information, gabriel was in shock.
after the accident happened, gabe never really recovered. there’s a lot of guilt and a lot of wishing that he could somehow swap places and it got to a point where everything gabriel thought about or talked about was the accident, and he just had to find a way to cope. and the solution was to numb himself to everything.
though they never outright said it, gabe knows that his parents secretly wish that gabriel and natalie could’ve swapped places, too. they lowkey blame gabe for the accident, and the reason why he ended up in santorini is a wasted attempt of running away from the guilt that he feels. ever since natalie died, gabriel dropped out of college and started burning through his trust fund. his parents would be mad, but they prefer him out of the picture tbh.
personality wise, he’s not the greatest person to be around. his mood is fickle and he goes from extremely charming to arrogant & cruel sometimes. when he’s in that kind of mood he doesn’t really want to talk to anyone, just prefers to lock himself up in his room until it goes away.
the drugs are an escape to him. he’s tried everything. cocaine, heroine, every single thing that can opiate his mind and make his memories of the accident foggy. he tends to lean more into pills, which is why sometimes his mood is terrific and he almost behaves like the old, charismatic gabe.
the ugly truth is that gabe is a junkie, and he doesn’t want to change his condition, tbh. he prefers the feeling of emptiness to the guilt that eats him up the moment he gets out of bed. before the accident happened, gabriel was a perfectly normal, friendly person. but everything is eclipsed by the trauma now.
on his good days, he’s chatty and agreeable. likes to stroll by the beaches and relax on the sand, usually reading a book or just taking a nap, really. though he spends most of his time moping, sometimes he cracks a joke, makes an observation in his signature dry humor.
always in sunglasses, because no one needs to see the circles under his eyes or how his eyes are always bloodshot.

to say that spencer was born with a silver spoon in her mouth would be an understatement. she is the child of sebastian waldorf and fiona astoria waldorf. sebastian was the heir of his family’s chain the ‘Waldorf’s’ hotel and Fiona was the heir of her family’s chain the ‘Astoria’ hotels. the two fell madly in love over the timespan of them fighting over a property for a hotel in santorini. long story short the two ended up being married and that was the first conjoined chain of the ‘Waldorf Astoria’ hotels. it was like a modern day romeo and juliet. minus the deaths. this was the first of their conjoined chain with many to follow as a posh hotel in major cities, not to mention the hotels already existing around the world. her family traveled all the time growing up, and while for school she was mainly stationed in manhattan she often studied abroad and spent her summers all over the world. her family owns the top penthouse of their hotel in santorini (where she currently lives) and they spent every christmas there through her years of her growing up.
needing an escape from the city she practically moved to Santorini full time before her 20th birthday.
although spencer’s childhood seemed picture perfect, not everything was. there was many things that were never talked about, paid off to be hidden, and never shown to the public eye. a lot of problems spencer had people just tried to brush off with a “poor little rich girl” because money can solve everything, right??
when spencer was 17 something dark happened to her at a party. instead of bringing any light to the case her family was bought off as it was the son of a large company and they didn’t want to deal with press. either of the families. her parents obliged. when she tried to tell her friend she didn’t believe her because “he was such a nice guy, he would never do that” and “spencer you were so drunk, you probably just don’t remember” and this situation as a whole is where her trust issues stem from.

About him:
He’s a local of Santorini. He’s never left the island, though it’s a big dream of his to leave and never come back. He knows most of the island like the back of his hand, and knows all of the spots to get away from tourists.
He’s an only child and his father passed away a few years ago. The only reason he hasn’t left yet is to take care and be there for his mother, even though he’s never been close to her.
He’s great at his job, one of the best. And that’s only like...20% due to his ego.
Meeting new people--especially tourists--is one of his favorite things. He loves to hear all about their journeys and their lives, mostly because it’s a taste of the world off of the island.
His sleep schedule is sooo messed up; half the time he’s awake until morning and lives off of two hours of sleep and a lot of coffee. He makes do.

She is a local to Santorini, but only moved here very recently once she got the job at Mylos (a very well paying job, mind you).
Growing up, she did have two parents but they were rarely home, always working their high paying jobs. And when they were home, they put her through piano class and ballet, in which she developed her perfectionist attitude.
She fell in love with cooking during high school during her home ec class. Once she fell in love, she threw herself into her work; practicing recipes at home and finding only the best ingredients through local markets.
Her parents were more than happy to pay her way through the best of the best culinary school, and through that she got a good job at an upscale restaurant back in England.
Her first marriage was...well. It wasn’t up to her standards, standards which she now understands were selfish. She cheated on her then husband, and was too stubborn and prideful to apologize when there might have been a chance to fix things.
