Yakov/Jo "It's not that simple"
Send me a ship and a fic title, and I’ll post a summary of the fic with that title I won’t write.
A sadist? Yakov wouldn’t exactly describe himself as such. While he admitted that he did enjoy getting Joanna riled up every so often, itwasn’t out of a perverse pleasure to upset her or assert control. Rather, itwas so he could indulge in the rare pleasure of seeing that vibrant spark ofhers that she kept so carefully hidden underneath her quiet façade. The flush of her cheeks, the flash in hereyes, and the rapid fire words that poured from her lips when she felt stronglyabout something were what he lived for. She was just so bloody cute andalive in those moments that he often wished they would never end.
Except when what she felt strongly about was in opposition towhat he wanted.
“No,” she shook her head as she gathered up her drawingmaterials into a pile, hands trembling. “No, no, no. It’s impossible! I can’tgo out with you on a date, no matter what you say!”
He crossed his arms with a frown. “Why? Do you find mypersonality repulsive?” His heart surgedat the way her head snapped up to stare at him in wonder, signaling that he hadtouched a nerve.
“Of course not!” She looked appalled. “I wouldn’t be friendswith you if I didn’t like you as a person!”
“Well then do you not find me attractive?” he pressed on, knowingdamn well that wasn’t the reason, but he wanted to hear her say it.
She froze under his ice blue eyes, then averted her gaze ina poor attempt to regain her composure. “N-no…it’s not that…”
He let out a low chuckle at her admission. “Then I do not see why you cannot go out withme.”
“Because!” she stammered, fingers scrambling to buckle her portfoliobag closed. “I can’t go out with a prince! I’m just a commoner, and a poorartist at that! Your people won’t accept me at all! I’m shy, I’m quiet, I’mawkward, and….”
“Utterly enchanting.”
“Yes! I mean, NO!” her dark hair swished wildly around herface as she shook her head. “I’m nobody of consequence and completely unworthyof you, Yakov!”
“Tch.” In two strides he was in front of her, the smirk onhis face gone. He took hold of her shoulders. “I care for you, Joanna. You carefor me. Nothing else matters.”
“But it’s not that simple!”
His lips were on hers before she could utter another word inopposition, erasing all protests, objections, and coherent thought from hermind.
He broke away with a low growl, knowing if he continued hewouldn’t be able to stop with just a kiss. Pulling her to him, he leaned down to whisperin her ear, hot breath sending goosebumps all across her skin.
“Yes,” he murmured, “it is.”
